Antioch scored more against Blackman than they had all season. They have no chance in this game lol

21 points was in the second half vs freshman and sophomores. Not that any of that matters Vs Oakland. Oakland beats everyone in the state. Creasy makes the best halftime adjustments. Blackman will need a perfect game, and Oakland to make a lot of mistakes. No lose situation for Blackman. Everyone says ‘they have no chance’

In a vacuum that might be right. Talking to Coach Watson they dress only a couple freshmen, and just like he did at Blackman they usually wait until the freshmen season is over,  So while they played, against  some underclassmen it was primarily in the 4th.  Things to consider, (1) Those underclassmen make up some of your starters today, (2) Blackman only lost a couple players on either side ball, due to graduation. Oakland lost a slew on both sides. (not to say the haven't reloaded with very talented players) (3) Blackman played that Game without Jacob Page or Jack Risener.  That said Oakland is still very talented and will be the Blaze' toughest test. If Blackmans defense can show up and have their best game I think this could be a very close game ,

It looks like Oakland QB may not play this week. He is half of their offense. This is a huge advantage for Blackman.  If he doesn't play, and Blackman still can't beat them, they never will. Not as long as Creasy is the coach.

Oakland has something a lot of teams don’t, big mean trench play. Blackman just isn’t there yet in the trench game and linebacker play.

You've mentioned line play several times and it seems you are the only one talking about it.  I think you hit the nail on the head.  The battle will be won or lost at the line of scrimmage.  A big arm qb and a big time tight end/reciever are nice and wonderful but someone will have to protect the qb.  My feeling is that Oakland will have a big advantage up front on both sides.

Back to qb for Blaze.  Where are some of the more high profile offers coming from?  A quick google search didn't reveal anything for me but maybe my googler was busted or I misspelled the young mans name.

Oakland’s OL/DL/RBs/ LBs is always the difference maker. They are always nasty and relentless.

The QB is 6’5 with a cannon, good grades, great kid.. very weird he doesn’t have big offers idk

Today's recruiting is all about 7v7 tournaments, camps, and handlers.  Ultimately the head coach needs to be promoting the kids and sending tape.  Like what Coach Williams has done for Arion Carter.  Carter received little interest as a RB, but once colleges saw his tape as a LB, his recruitment blew up!  I'm sure once College coaches see his tape, the offers will come in.

So here is some interesting things ...for Blaze fans of course .... Blaze defense is giving up an average of 14 fewer points per game than last year,    ( still way too many , but really heading the right direction)  They also are averaging 1 touchdown 7 pts per game better as well.  Oakland is going to be a very tough test,  but 1 thing the Blaze can and should keep in their head is the offense they had last year was not nearly as good as the one they are playing with this year and but they still managed 36 pts on one of the top ranked defenses in the state, and it was without Jack Risener,  Yes, some of those points might have been in garbage time, however that should tell you that you scored on some of those same folks who will be starting this year.  ALL told between last year and this year Blaze are seeing a  21 point swing ... Yes, by those numbers it still puts Oakland up by a score of 49 to 43....(6pts).... I am hopeful we get a couple key stops and make this a dogfight for Oakland . Who knows maybe we get our best game of the season out the Blaze boys.

Oakland is averaging 50 points a game so far this season and against better defenses than Blackman is putting on the field so far this year..... I think Blackman is better for sure than they were but not nearly as good as Ravenwood. I have Oakland scoring at least 56 and Blackman at 35.

Its crazy cause Oakland was small when my cousin won a state title over there. All the skill positions were smaller. But over these last few years they are just big in the trenches and linebacker.  Blackman will make some tweaks on both sides Friday, they just need to let Jack set his feet long enough but Kevin will definitely dial up some exotic pressure

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
