I don't mind athletes transferring if they fit a certain academic requirements for them to transfer (something like 3.5 GPA or higher) just for upcoming seniors. Other than that, it needs to stay in place, but schools will continue to find loop holes, and the TSSAA doesn't seem to care, so why bother?

I will say there's one player that reportedly transferred up to those Knoxville schools. It'll be his 3rd time as a transfer and didn't play/couldn't play at the previous two schools. But hey, entitlement is a powerful word my friend.

these kids are moving.  Whether or not you think they should, how could you make them remain at their old school after they move?  how is that right?

Entristin. I see both sides but agree with the guy in the dawgs shirt. Coaches can transfer, teachers can transfer, honor society students can transfer for “better educations”, but let’s penalize athletes for taking a big chance to go to a new place hoping it will benefit them. It makes no sense. People quit their jobs everyday in hopes it will help them.

Correct. Coaches are notorious for job hopping to climb the ladder. One day they are at a team event and the next they are being introduced as the next head coach. It's not like Highschool athletes are under contractual obligations to stay. If programs want to keep their kids they need to produce enough positives to keep them, simple as that.

this is the smart approach.  A coach's opinion on transfer depends on their most recent interaction with it.  Webb coach is against it now, but didn't mind when Shavar came to webb in the first place.  Was it last year that Farragut's starting QB was a first year transfer?

Josh Jones saying no one should sit out and badmouthing concussion protocol is the worst take on here. Not sure what kind of parent would want their kid to transfer to a team led like that.  Craziness.

Not a good line by Jones, basically saying we need more kids to plug in from wherever because of the chance of concussion protocol and we need to fill spots.

Coaches are also fired, can a player if they don't perform on a Friday night be let go by Sunday? Coaches are also at schools for decades which seems to be overlooked in this stance.

This can be very complicated and can be different each case. Coaches shouldn’t be able to actively recruit like they do (yes.  Some do)

but also should a kid just forgo his career because their happens to be someone better at his position….or worse a political or daddyball situation?

Coaches also get paid. Players don’t get paid, the closest they get is a ring they get to wear for the rest of their lives, and if a player feels that he has a better option of getting that ring somewhere else, he should have all rights to do it. Just like coaches can get up and leave for different jobs for more money.

Not true, players can now get paid in TN on NIL. So now it's just about a ring because they couldn't get it done where they live. Being a high school student in not a profession no matter how it gets spun because the coach can choose to leave.

We all agree with that; it's the recruiting of just a couple public schools and most of the private school that sticks in our craws.

In Knoxville and surrounding places, there’s never been a high school kid that signed an NIL deal and have gotten money. It’s either a discount code or just a discount in general there’s never been anybody to get solid cash or money in their bank account since NIL has started in Tennessee high school’s for football. I mean, it’s probably gonna start happening in Nashville if it hasn’t already, but I doubt it ever comes to Knoxville or anywhere else.

And players get paid in exposure and networking. Many kids only go to college because of ball and then learn the importance of education in school.

Also yes players get "fired" every week at programs.

Yes so exactly kids should have the right to transfer to programs that they believe will better fit them for the college level. Thank you.

Amen. Instead, they want to keep their mediocre programs in place and blame the kids and parents. Another reflection of todays society and people blaming others instead of accepting responsibility and trying to improve their own program.
