Region 7-3A Standings

After week 6, here is how Region 7-3A stacks up. Schools are listed with their region record, followed by their overall won-lost record.

Dyersburg.           3-0  6-0

Westview.             3-0  4-2

Ripley.                   3-1  4-2

Covington             2-1  4-2

Bolivar.                  1-3  3-3

Scotts Hill.             1-2  2-4

McNairy Central   0-3  1-5

Liberty Magnet.    0-3   0-6

With four games left, it appears that the top 4 teams are in the driver’s seat for the playoffs. The final order is still to be determined, as teams still have either three or four region games left to play. These final four weeks of the season will be interesting, to be sure.

This could still go lots of ways. Dyersburg and Westview are undefeated in the region and they play at Westview next week. The winner of that game will be in great shape. 
 

Covington still has 4 region games left to play:

McNairy - Home

Liberty - away

Ripley - home

Westview - home

That’s a lot of ground to cover before the playoffs, but it is an advantageous schedule to have 3 of the 4 at home.

If Dyersburg beats Westview they will be one seed

Technically they could still lose to Scott’s Hill and Liberty and if Covington wins out Covington would be the 1 seed. But that’s only when cows fly.

The magic number to get in the playoffs looks to be 4-3 so to follow the theme no team has technically been eliminated yet but it would take something shocking for the current top four to make the playoffs, even though there’s likely going to be some movement in how those top four finish.

Out of curiosity, I pulled up the leaders in Region 8-3A, since they would be the opponents for our region in Round 1 of the playoffs. The leaders are:

 

Bolton                   3  1     5  1

Sheffield               3  0     4  2

Raleigh Egypt.      3  0.    3  3

Hamilton.              2  2.    3  3

Once you know that your team is making the playoffs, it’s interesting to follow the teams in 8-3A to see who you might play.

It’s happened before. I’m not sure how good a 5-1+Bolton team might be. Covington was in the same region with them a couple of years ago, and they were not very good. But, they may be better now.
