What does Sequoyah football look like going into 2024?

Seems Vestal is making some progress up on Hwy 411, if that community will continue to rally I think he could turn that program around.

Last season during fall scrimages I went and watched them play against William Blount and I could tell from that scrimmage they would finally end that losing streak that went on for five years or 45 games from what I saw that day. I'm sure this coach is trying hard to build a foundation for this team which was easy to see. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are high school football programs that have laid in ruins for that long. The biggest question at Sequoyah is how much can a person take of the poor leadership that runs the school system before they can't handle it anymore and leave.

It will revert back to the dumpster fire it always has been. It's not secret Vestal was trying to get out already, he thought he was the frontrunner for the LC job. The only way the "wins" continue is to soften the schedule again. Let's be honest 2-8 is nothing to be proud of. Only reason it got any recognition was because of how long it had been since.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
