I had 49 teams to pick from and the last 7 or 8 will give you total ALE to try and figure out and this was one of the last 2 or 3. I know Meigs has owned them in the past but McMinn has gotten better and I figured this was going to be the game they finally got this monkey off their back. I am really shocked last years coach left them after one season to jump into the dumpster fire at Sweetwater and possibly destroy his resume to the point of no return. Great job for the coaches at Meigs County for rebuilding a team that had a lot of kids lost to graduation the year before. Your right not an upset but a wake up call about Meigs County.

Spot on sir!

I figured simback would do good over there. He was a really good quarterback for mcminn county in 2011 and 2012.  Figured hed be a pretty good coach, think back around 2013 he was gonna go on and play college football but got a career ending injury off the field that altered his path in life so I'm glad he is able to at least coach all these years later. If mcminn county ever got rid of cagle I could see them courting Nathan as a coach. Usually seems like they always want someone connected to the program to step up into head coach position

I think sometimes going outside the programs is a better option, just sayin,. Meadows, Reid, Rankin, now Nix at Alcoa, all have carried the weight & torch of a championship team. Your thoughts! I’m just asking & commenting. Not looking for an argument just thoughts here, you know your program.

Nah I get it. I actually a 100%, agree with you, I was just saying the most likely course of action in that situation, not that I necessarily agree with, but mcminn is definetly a good ole  boy program that would definetly favor an insider over an outsider. It's not impossible, I just think if simbeck does well and things fell on hard times hear after a few years I could see them courting simbeck for a coaching position

Truly understand, but I hate to see these programs suffer because of it. Sad.

Alot of these towns and counties will never change honestly. Cagles resume as coach isn't all that bad couple of bad years, but good out weighs the bad.

I totally agree that a lot of communities will not change,& that’s ok, & they seem to be ok with it, but they are the first ones to start crying foul, when kids want to transfer out to a winning program or to a winning coach who can get them to the next level. Your average player isn’t going to want to go because they don’t want to play at the next level, but your really good athletes want better & want to be coached up. I agree it’s a messed up system, & T$$AA isn’t going to anything about it, but to your point, I could see them courting him at some point.

    • We have 2 PG's that will be added to the lineup and another guard and all are athletic and can handle ball pressure. Gibson County beat Westview 4 times in 2024. Westview brought in a Miss Basketball Candidate from South Fulton last year and you want to say Gibson County has a mental hump against Westview. I tell you what you put her on Gibson County's squad and Westview would have had a mental hump. Here is a fact. They wouldn't have won it without her last year. Last I looked Gibson County has played with who we got on our campus. Let's see how Westview does this year with who they got on their campus. I do think they will be pretty good but I don't like shots being taken at my school especially from Westview.
    • Smith County fans are delusional is they are wanting to get rid of Dyer. If they think they are supposed to be some powerhouse of a football program that wins 10+ games every year they need a reality check. Never have been that good of a football program and probably never will. It’s too hard for a small rural place to be consistently good every single year
    • If you’re talking about when they lost to Corbin HS out of Kentucky(4A school in KY) in 2017, they lost by 1 point and Corbin went 14-2 that year in Kentucky so to say they got “taken behind the woodshed by a mediocre out of state team” is a bit of a stretch. You act like Alcoa never loses at all. They lose games every year, granted mostly to Maryville but other teams have beaten them in the regular season. Alcoa just turns into another animal in the playoffs. Winning is a learned skill and it’s an advantage that Alcoa has over everyone when the postseason rolls around
    • Carthage is returning QB will be his 3rd years starting and a Jr.He should be coming around.A soph tailback that got a lot of exp as a freshman.Biggest problem is the line. They have a couple of good athletes that will make plays but the rest still remain to be seen.Size is not a problem.New OC will be interesting. He is known to be a trickster but a genius in some peoples mind.Coach Dyer better get the ball rolling.I'm hearing a lot of eyes will be on him this year.GO OWLS
