The score could have easily been 30-40 points but Cleveland began playing their subs early in the 4th with a 30 point lead. WV left their starters in until late. The game was fun. My only problem was with WV obsiously trying to undercut and "takeout" Cleveland players.

cbr- ever heard of playing defense? the game was physical on both ends which was evident by the number of fouls called. the only thing that got "taken out" was dotson and mcguire with fouls. both sat the majority of the game. mcguire picked up his 4th (just as the official told him he would, hmmmm?) less than two minutes into the 3rd and dotson soon followed him to the bench. they didn't hit the floor again until the 4th and were pulled as soon as cleveland's subs were put in. not making excuses, just recalling facts. cleveland is talented and deep and I doubt that the players would say that WV was trying to undercut and take them out. can't you just admit they played harder and better than you expected them too?

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
