Been seeing some videos that show Celina Bulldog's throwing elbows!! Is it dirty play?? From the 2 videos I have seen it's dirty play my opinion!! Since it's Highschool the Coach should be talking to his players about it!! It's his job to control his players and to keep the dirty play for the play grounds! Celina has for the last few years had some really good ballplayers and have done very well in state playoffs! But control the dirty play and keep you reputation good and clean Coach!!!

Multiple videos show players form each team throwing intentional elbows. The 1st from Macon players wasn't seen by the officials and no foul was called. It was vicious and landed requiring stitches to the player receiving. The 2nd elbow was thrown by the brother of the player that received the damage. The game video doesn't give a good view of the 1st elbow thrown but another video I've seen shows it well. With that being said it was both teams or players from each team. Not condoning any of it. I will say in the manner the 1st elbow was thrown. I've not seen many teams where another player wasn't going to respond to that. In this case the brother was on the floor.

I’ve seen videos showing the first elbow thrown by the Macon County player and it was deliberate and intentional. The player should be disciplined by his school and or coach. Minimum 2 game suspension maybe even more. That was totally uncalled for. So before you start talking about reputation let’s point the fingers in the right direction.

Well haven't seen the Macon county kids elbow but did see the one throw in the Jackson County game that was deliberately throw by Celina kid not trying to pick on one team over the other!! But still Coaches have to take control and do some in house discipline of there own!!!!

Well just seen the Macon county kids 1st elbow!! Now I'm sure there's different videos of it but the one I saw I don't believe it was intentional I think Macon County kid was just blocking out and the Celina kid move in with his head down and got hit by the Macon county player!!! As I said I only looking at the one video I could find and I wasn't at the game!!! The bottom line these players are young and playing to win all the Coaches across the state need to emphasize good hard play keep it clean!!! Just my opinion doesn't mean I'm right or wrong!!

The rest of the season should be exciting for the UC area. I foresee A LOT of physical gameplans because there are players that have more of tendency to react on various teams. Make no bones about it, these gameplans are by design. I watched the Clay Co. vs PC game earlier this year and it was VERY physical. I believe the refs called a pretty good game, but I do believe PC got a few more questionable calls than Clay Co. did. Not related to the Clay Co. vs PC game, but in general, I am all in favor of good hard physical basketball, but when intentions became dirty play, that's unacceptable.

You clearly haven’t seen the one from the baseline. If you only look at the video from up above, it basically looks like he boxed out the guy fell down. If you see the video from the baseline you can tell it is obvious it was intentional.  I’m not condoning what the player from Clay county did. I’m just telling you when the Macon County boy throws an elbow like that to take out another player on the opposing team in these parts of the country a fight is going to break out that’s just the way it is boys.  I will say this much in defense of the kid from Clay County. I had two boys that played one played for Clay County. The other played for Jackson County and if they were on the court at the same time and somebody did that to their brother, It probably would’ve been a whole lot worse than that. Watch the video if you can that shows it from the baseline and then come back and tell me it wasn’t intentional.

the problem is simply Clay is playing dirty! period. beyond physical. they are going to get someone hurt! saw a video from jackson co early in the year-should have been a suspension on that elbow refs missed from same kid. saw video of clay vs livingston - horrible rough play. now macon. clay coach is trying anything to stroke his ego to get wins. tssaa is gonna have step in before someone gets hurt real bad. play the game right.  a coach worth his salt would have been on the court talking to his player after an incident like that chewing his butt out, not clay coach.

I did see the one from the baseline the Macon County kid never looked to see where the Clay County kid is!!! The Clay County kid lead with his head for some reason!! Still don't think it was intentional but my opinion!!! Not got a kid in the hunt I'm just a fan of highschool basketball!! NIL has and is destroying the College game!!

Either A you’ve never been around sports or B you’re biased. Because no one boxes out with a high elbow to the face without doing it intentionally   By your definition then the second elbow was incidental contact as well.

    • We have 2 PG's that will be added to the lineup and another guard and all are athletic and can handle ball pressure. Gibson County beat Westview 4 times in 2024. Westview brought in a Miss Basketball Candidate from South Fulton last year and you want to say Gibson County has a mental hump against Westview. I tell you what you put her on Gibson County's squad and Westview would have had a mental hump. Here is a fact. They wouldn't have won it without her last year. Last I looked Gibson County has played with who we got on our campus. Let's see how Westview does this year with who they got on their campus. I do think they will be pretty good but I don't like shots being taken at my school especially from Westview.
    • Smith County fans are delusional is they are wanting to get rid of Dyer. If they think they are supposed to be some powerhouse of a football program that wins 10+ games every year they need a reality check. Never have been that good of a football program and probably never will. It’s too hard for a small rural place to be consistently good every single year
    • If you’re talking about when they lost to Corbin HS out of Kentucky(4A school in KY) in 2017, they lost by 1 point and Corbin went 14-2 that year in Kentucky so to say they got “taken behind the woodshed by a mediocre out of state team” is a bit of a stretch. You act like Alcoa never loses at all. They lose games every year, granted mostly to Maryville but other teams have beaten them in the regular season. Alcoa just turns into another animal in the playoffs. Winning is a learned skill and it’s an advantage that Alcoa has over everyone when the postseason rolls around
    • Carthage is returning QB will be his 3rd years starting and a Jr.He should be coming around.A soph tailback that got a lot of exp as a freshman.Biggest problem is the line. They have a couple of good athletes that will make plays but the rest still remain to be seen.Size is not a problem.New OC will be interesting. He is known to be a trickster but a genius in some peoples mind.Coach Dyer better get the ball rolling.I'm hearing a lot of eyes will be on him this year.GO OWLS
    • If Alcoa keeps winning titles after moving to 4a it makes the whole state look weak.  Havent they won 10 in a row or something.  My god how can a team win 10 in a row, and the 1 time they went and played a kentucky 3a team they got there ace's beat.  Some redbone coonhound team handled business on them, but they can constantly win 3a in tennessee.  I remember at the time looking up that redbone coonhound team that beat them, and found out that team is made fun of across the state of kentucky cause they havent won a title in like close to 50 years.  Think i seen they are now in 4a in kentucky, and they never won a title in the last 40-50 years no matter if they are 2a, 3a, or 4a but somehow was able to take alcoa behind the woodshed in the midst of there title run about 5-8 ,years ago dont remember the year.  Point is it looks bad when a team gets there hind end whooped like a 3 legged rented mule to a mediocre out of state team the 1 time they play them, but can dominate the whole state in 3a for over a decade.  Someone has to start beating them.
