Today-

Gate City beat Sullivan East in a not very Arby's Classic type game.

Bartlett (Alaska) beat Urspring (Germany) in a great 2 OT thriller 98-95. It was a great game, the fans really got behind the German kids but they couldn't pull it out against a very good and resiliant Bartlett team.

Boone (Florida) beat Honaker in a decent game, but it was pretty sloppy.

Tennessee High pulled out a big win against North Hardin (Kentucky) Probably one of the biggest upset of the tourney.

Mansfield (Ohio) beat Rimini (Italy). Renaldi dominated the first half including a hard base line dunk taking 2 people of the dribble. Mansfield soon realized to triple team him and he didn't do much the second half and missed some key shots that would have put his team the game. He is a man among boys but from what I saw he couldn't make it in the pro's yet. Any college would be blessed to have him though, he is a machine. Final score: 62-61.

3 great games on the night.

I have seen most of the teams play in the Arby's for 2002 and this is the weakest teams I have ever seen play in this tournament. The teams Tenn. High played was downright terrible. East, Gate City, Boone come on guys. Germany was much better last year. So was Tabernacle Baptist. Chatt. Brainard is as weak as I have ever seen them. You can form your opinion but mine are from what I see. I have called in several of the tournaments and last years teams was much better than those of this year. The Arby's was at one time a very good high school tournament, but now is just an average tournament with some out of town teams scattered in a very weak field.

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
