I heard some of the games were going to played at Lakeshore Park. Anyone know for sure? I sure hope not! Surely Farragut can do better than using a rec league field for such a top notch tourney.

yea it looks as though they are going to use Lakeshore for some of the games...the only reason i know is because my team is in it (Knox Webb) and our coach told us that we are playing at least one game at lakeshore...at least as of right now

 

 

how many teams are going to be in the tournament?...and who?

LSL = Lakeshore Lower Field

Yes - UT, but down the street.....and thats 1 out of the last 5 trips they won

Farragut - as quality a H.S. baseball field as any in the state

Lakeshore - quite a step down I agree

My copy of the schedule has

Farragut, McMinn, Morristown East, Jackson Chr,

Riverdale, Mt. Juliet, Webb, Daniel Boone,

Science Hill, Warren Co, Overton, Goodpasture,

Morristown West, McCallie, Tullahoma and

William Blount.

Those teams sound right......do you know where I could get a schedule of the games? Times/fields, etc? If you have a fax I'm @ 865-675-9809......where on the web might I fing it?

What a shame that some of the best high school teams in the state will be playing at lakeshore. I hope noone gets hurt. With so many nice high school fields in that area it would seem that a better choice could be made. What is the deal?

Thanks for the schedule BUT can anyone tell me why a tournament like this is using lakeshore. Have the fields been redone or are they the same we played on when our sons were 13 and 14? Am i the only one that has a concern with lakeshore?

They did work on the fields last fall, by adding new sod down the inside lines infront of the dugouts and reworked the area around homeplate. The infield is always reseeded with winter rye because they are Bermuda grass they usually don't come in until midsummer.

 

I haven't looked to see if the infield dirt was reworked, if that was done, the fields should be fine. Just remember they are 325 down the lines and only 340 to center and no room behind homeplate. If pitchers can't keep the ball down, then scores will soar.

 

If you noticed by the schedule, if you finish #1 or #2 out of pool play, then it cuts down your chances of playing on the short fields. At first look, someone must not like Webb, they play three games at Lakeshore and some teams like Farragut, Tullahoma and William Blount have no games at all at Lakeshore. SoupKitchen, Tommy knows what he's doing!

Indeed Coach Pharr does know what he's doing. I was a bit suprised when I saw Lakeshore on the list of foelds. With other West Knox fields (Webb, Bearden, Karns)....oh well, not my call. I hope the improvements you mentioned have taken root....we played there in a tourney during the fall and for the most part the fields were in pretty good shape.....except for the 1st and SS areas......alot of surface dirt. If they have addressed that then all - but the short CF fence - should be fine. But come to think of it, I do not remember anyone hitting a CF homerun in that tounament......you know how big those boys eyes get and how long those swings get with a short fence.....sometimes that short fence is a great defense.
