I remember when the Onieda Indians played in Murfreesboro a few years ago. How have they been doing since? Are they off to a good start this season? Any standout players- and did Donald Sexton graduate?

I've been to Oneida 2 times - my first time and my last time. It's a real feat to go somewhere twice in one trip. Do they actually play basketball up there?

The answer to the Donald Sexton Question: Yes, he has graduated and moved on for his freshman campaign at Tusculum College in Greeneville.

 

How have they been doing since being seen in the 'Buro a few years ago: I saw perhaps one of the best 1A BBall games to be played in recent years last season as Hancock behind Mathews & Nichols downed the Sexton led Indians in 2 or 3 OTs in the SubState game at Oneida. Sexton hit 3 after 3 after 3 in going for about 50 or so points. Just happened to be he fouled out of this classic contest.

 

As for this season, the Indians are on their 2nd coach since that trip to the 'Buro. One Bill Hall has since moved down the road to Scott High--the guy who coached Yaden and West before Eldridge took them to the 'Buro, one Mark Eldridge who took them to the 'Buro is now at 2A AC, one Gary Barnes saw greener pastures in Georgia, and one Vic King (current coach) only has a $400,000 lawsuit pending against the LaFollette principal and ex-Campbell County director of schools.

 

As for talent, they have it in the form of up and coming raw talent. There are no SRs on a team that seemed to be getting the ship righted just before Christmas break. Two JRs in Newell Armstrong & Jason Miller lead the way as this post duo can work the paint, bust a three, grab a board, or swat a shot. Others to look for are Soph PG Zach Smith, Soph wing Dustin Walker--a left handed three point specialist, Soph Rhyne Douglas and others.

Don't forget about Mark Eldridge that went to Anderson County. He took Oneida to state in 97 and went to the final four before falling to Tennessee Temple.

Dang, I knew I was forgetting someone. But...to forget Eldridge is ludricous on my behalf. Boy, do I feel like a moron about right now. The pecking order went Hall, Eldridge, Barnes, and King. Duh!! Thanks for setting me straight!!

How is King doing at Oneida? Are they playing good basketball right now? They seem to have a bright future, is King the man to take them to the 'Boro again? And, yea, how could you forget Mark Eldridge...
