otis
What schools have been the biggest surprises of the season thus far? Stratford has only one returning starter from last year's 28-4 team, that being Henry Harris. The remaining players seeing significant minutes have virtually no experience. Most people thought that these youthful Spartans would struggle this season in the 12-AAA warzone. However, they are unbeaten in the district so far and have lost only to Oakland and Columbia during the tough Ryan holiday tournament. It's still early, but the Spartans have been a pleasant surprise. Coach James Winrow has been coach of the year twice in the past two years, but this year must be considered his best coaching job yet. Great job head Spartan! What other schools have began the season better than expected?
coachdm
Munford has started with an impressive 11-1 record over tough opponents. These include wins at Ripley, Haywood Co. which should compete for a AA sub-state appearance, and Germantown.

WaverlyTigerFan37185
Waverly has definetly been a surprise this year. In what was suppose to be a re-building year the Tigers are 10-2 and 4-0 in district
Fanatic15
I think that Ooltewah has been an early year surprise. In the Chattanooga Times and Free Press there were chosen to finish last in the district. They are now 4-5 with two losses to two team out of Atlanta and two very good Cleveland and Rhea County teams and the defending state champs of Temple. They have an easier schedule from here on out and i look for them to finish around the top in there district. They meet Red Bank tomorrow night (Friday).Yet for a team to finish last in there district they are lookin good. And they are all juniors. No Seniors. eagletime
Nashville Christian 9-3 Only won 6 games last year.
TallKid13
I think that Fairview is a big surprise this year. They are now 7-7. They had a 0-26 season last year. Most of the loses by five or less(two of them by 1 pt.)They have surprised Page by beating them in OT by 2pts. Fairview is 3rd right now in the district. They also have a new coach, Coach Bledsoe, which is also the girls coach. The girls team is also 12-2, 2nd in their district. And both teams were placed last in their region. So Faiview has had a big improvement from last year.
kareem
Memphis Wooddale is definitely in this category. They are 12-2 after a one-win season.
