This game was decided before the game began. Dyer Co. had three men with 4 fouls before the third quarter was even half over. Dyer Co. also had a very bad shooting night. Haywood did give us some home cooking tho. Crittendon and Fisk fouled out in the fourth quarter. Give Haywood credit tho they hit there 3s and we didn't. No excuses we just had a bad game. We didn't play well at Union City either, just enough to win.

Actually, Dyer County lost twice to Haywood, they had to forfeit the first game because of a "ineligible player", so I guess Dyer County has three losses.

Which is still a very good record.

Being an assistant myself, I do not envy the position this guy is in, especially following Butch. I don't have any dogs in the fight regarding Dyer Co., but I will say Haywood Co. is one of the toughest places to play in West Tn. I wish Dyer Co. luck in resolving this present situation. I would also hope that they keep the players foremost in their thoughts, for it is because of them that we get into this business to start with, not to be glamorized with a win-loss record.

There needs to be more assistants like you. If those kids are better when they leave than when they arrived, a great miracle has occured. If a coach is able to stress the importance of going to college, or even finishing what you start, they have made a difference.

All to often coaches are judged, and make decisions, based on a favorable won/loss record. The great coaches are the ones who can make a positive difference in players lives. A by-product of that is winning.

You get a good mark! :D

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
