Chill How can you not put Elizabethton at #3. Elizabethton had Ridgway beat and portland got killed by them. Boliver is very good but they lost and had to got on the road and got beat by Giles county that means that they were not winning at tourney time.

 

Etown has got to be #3

bolivar lost to a team that they had already beaten several times. As the saying goes, it is hard to beat a good team a number of times in a given season. They lost to the state champs by 1 point on a last second half courter on the road. That team was solid.

 

It doesn't matter that you had someone beat if you don't finish the job. GC trailed at the half to both Haywood and Ridgeway, but showed the heart to step it up in the second half.

 

I agree that Portland and especially Fulton were a little overrated. If Fulton would have beaten any of the other 7 teams in the tourney I would have had to consider that a pretty big upset.

The main reson I didn't put Betsy at #3 is because I saw them play 4 times this season and I don't think they are as good as the others. What happened against a mediocre Alcoa team in the substate? Betsy didn't show up in that game and Ridgeway struggled against Betsy. Teams do have bad games sometimes. Elizabethton had a great season and they are one of the best teams in the state. I still don't know if they would beat Fulton, AE, Bolivar, Booker T, Dyer, etc.. but at least they made a strong showing unlike some of the teams from East Tennessee at the Boro. I do believe Vince Redd answered a lot of people's questions about his ability to play at the next level....

What games did you see Etown play!!!

 

Besides that they won the Alcoa game and the game was in Elizabethton's hands the hole time they just made some bone head plays at the end. When a team has not been to the tourney in 20 years they get a little tight winning that game but the big thing is they still won.

 

All the close calls in the Ridgway game went to Ridgway 9 straight block or charge calls went to Ridgway. The foul count was 28-11 and Ridgeway was pressing. go figure!

 

I just do not understand how you can have portland up there when they got killed by Ridgeway and Portland only has 2 players.

The reason Ridgway had a tough time is because of the Match Up that is the fewest points Ridgeway had scored all year with the exeption to White station. Ridgway had know clue how to attack it. Yaul Banks even told Lester Bailey that he did not know what they were doing on deffense and it was straight messing the offense up.

quit crying about the loss. GC was never in danger of losing by a large margin. They were the ones that could have pulled away on free throws had they knocked them down. I did not see the game you all played against R-way, but if you can say that GC could have lost by 15, and that you saw 20 missed layups by R-way, then I have no doubt that you deserved to lose.

 

What are you worried about rankings for anyway???

I agree with what you are saying about Giles they desirved this win and they played with alot of heart. I am a giles county fan after watching them play and seeing the student section. They are #1 KNOW QUESTION I just want some respect for Elizabethton!

 

 

I am glad that Giles finally got the respect because they beat 3 memphis teams and I thought memphis was the ppower house.
