Just wondering any predicitions people have before the Rutherford County Challange coming up next week. I personally feel that it will be between Blackman and Smyrna, however Riverdale always seems to find ways to get the win so who knows. Good luck to everybody just looking to see what everyone else thinks.

Rutherford County tournament... I am from Lavergne High and I was wondering... we play smyrna, oakland, riverdale, and blackman. Right. Isn't Eagleville in our county? I may be geographically challenged but I was just wondering. If so, do they not have a soccer program there?

On to predictions. I'll keep it safe and leave my team out of it since I will be playing. (Lavergne)

Smyrna

Blackman

Riverdale

Oakland

The top three are the hardest to pick from. They are evenly matched across the board, it just depends on who is ready for the game more.

I'm not sure about Oakland.

No, eagleville does not have a soccer team that i'm aware of... they recently just tried to have a football team. If they did, they'd be garbage anyways.

I'll post my predictions after thursday nights game because basically it's all up to whoever brings it.

good luck to all

I think the tournament will be a hard fought battle on the field between Riverdale, Blackman, and Smyrna. I think those three teams have good shot at finishing well in state. I agree with Jeremy that the team with the right frame of mind and the team most ready will win the tourny.

Leave it to Coach Rankin to make the soccer team play out on a elementary sized school field by the street. When you have 4 excellent players and 7 mediocre ones the game becomes like this: Anything to score one goal and then pull everyone back towards the goal. Whenever you have the opportunity kick it in the street. Keep no extra balls except for the one you start with. Ocassionally kick it deep into the pasture and make sure you do not provide people to help retrieve any of the out of bounds kicks. Let the clock run as your players walk to get the ONE ball. Forget to get any officials so some men in the stands can work the sidelines. Finally you see it all unfold. You can stay with anyone with a couple of players if they only have to cover a field 60 yards long. This could only happen in high school soccer. It's a shame Riverdale does not support its student athletes any better.

I have to agree with you Hankus, that is the strategy of the Riverdale coach and team. Delay, delay, delay. Today it did not work for the entire game though, they lost to smyrna 2-1. Only way the can finish in a good place out of 5 is to beat Oakland and LaVergne. Great game Smyrna!!!

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
