Middle School State Tournament

What ever happened to the idea of getting a Middle School State Tournament? I dont care who sanctions it, because I know TSSAA-TMSAA will not do it, they dont want any competition to go past a regional level. At this level we are still allowed to compete DI and DII programs against each other.

At first look, I think it'd be a wonderful competition; however, these young boys have a lot going on academically and socially. To create regionals and run a state competition is too much, in my opinion, for us to ask of them. Besides, they'll get hold of one another sooner or later. In freestyle, when their personal loads lighten up or in high school, when they're ready to shoulder this heavy extracurricular activity.

The problem is the member schools. Many of the better programs are not members of TMSAA. There are proposals for regional team tournaments, unforturnately they may not be very tough...less so than many conference tournaments.

I think a middle school state tournement would be great, but when could it be held? Some of the schools have their season after the TSSAA tournement, while others wrestle during the high schools season.

Also, why do the middle school teams belong to different groups(TVAC ect...)?They should compete in the same districts as the high schools. "right"??? :confused:
