Well I've watched a lot of girls high jumping this year and I haven't seen many girls break 5'0-5'2"! 4'10" is what a lot of girls get put out at and its a very reasonable height. Depending on your daughters age she either has a lot of room to grow or she's already set, but either way she's where she needs to be. I think the best I've seen this year has been 5'2" or 5'4" by a girl from Oak Ridge. As for advice for her...well the easiest advice is to get your knee (none jumping) up above your hip, this will force your body over the bar.

For high school, very few jumpers (male or female) jump higher than their height. However, if you look at older jumpers, they must jump significantly over their height to be competitive (the world record for men's high jump is over 8 feet and I believe the jumper was about 6'3"). Your daughter is in good shape now but will need to start thinking about jumping over her height as she progresses. Good luck and happy jumping!

I assume that you're Mr. Pickle's nephew and you are a thrower for Bearden!? Well if you're wondering who I am then you'll probably see me doing the high jump, triple jump, and 400 meters on Tuesday.

I am his nephew and I am a thrower for Bearden. Right on the money. Godd luck to you all on Tuesday. I hope you do well.
