THe player that won it last year, Mendena. He's a good player, but he wasn't worthy of the award. All i'm saying is that the voting is usually and unfair way to choose. Last year Kingstons Steven Gillis didn't even make the all region team. I think the award last year should have at least went to someone who was a stand out player among the rest, and this year I think they pick a good choice.

Roberto Medena was a stand out player last year on the team that won the district and the region. He was arguably the best all around defender in the region as a sophomore. The head coaches choose the players on the all-district, all-region teams. Appearently he stood out enough to win the votes of the other head coaches.

mrh11, I guess one can't get all the trash out of the barrel. Obviously ur suffering from some issues, and CoachT is not the best place in the world to be spreading your "sermon". Who cares what you think about Kingston, Dork! Sorry everybody forgot to kiss your feet this morning, but get over your ego long enough to realize you haven't got a clue, Bud. Day is just fine as a Keep, and Kingston has done a remarkable job this past week before running into a relaxed(at home) and rested CAK. Don't hate on the players, dude! :D:D

MRH has no class.....But back to the point....I'm not taking anything away from Mendena, he had a great season, and led his team to beat Kingston in the district and region. He was only a sophmore and the lack of experience showed. Toss around a few more names for you to think about last year.....Mills from L.C., what he lacked in dribbling his tremendous foot and senior leadership made up for, and Josh Lankford from Kingston, this guy came out at the first of the season and couldn't stop anything, but by the end of the season he was a dominant force in the Kingston backfield and his senior leadership was important at Kingston, for it was the only one they had. If you were going to go underclassmen, how come you didn't throw in Alan Knauth or Mitch Thomas last year, these two players were the playmakers for their teams. They made things happen. So know you heard my outlook on things. Mendena wasn't a BAD choice, just not the RIGHT choice.

    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
    • You’re a fool if you think I have more than one account
    • Looking back they had better records than I recalled against upper East TN.  But they still took off once ballard got there. And beating other good programs
