  1. 1. Region 4AA Tournament

I know it's still 8 days away, but I figured I'd start the discussion about this Williamson County matchup between the Brentwood Academy Eagles and the Centennial Cougars. Who will win, by how many points, and why? I'll chime in later when everyone has had a chance to talk for awhile.

Call me crazy, but I had to do it! I can't pick against my team.

I know the biggest issue will be the depth factor. The Eagles have more talent at each position than the Cougars and will have fewer guys going both ways. I think Centennial's defensive line will be the key for them as they will have to fend off a brutish offensive line to get to David Holbert. If they can keep a steady rotation and keep guys fresh and giving a nonstop effort, then that is their best scenario. Offensively, they'll have to break a few big plays to get points and feild position I think. Lining up and pounding it down BA's throat is not a realistic goal, but to play mistake free and make the best of your opportunities, is. They'll need the youngster Curtis Steele to use his speed a time or two to get a good gain and hopefully they'll get some positive yards from Phillip Bates and the rest. Also, if Brandon Meegs can get his hands on the ball a few times, that will help loosen up the front 7 of BA.

I'm predicting the upset here too. While I certainly won't be surprised if BA wins, and wins big, something tells me the Cougars will pull this one off. Or maybe this is just my general disliking of BA coming out. Who knows!

Anyways, this certainly shouldn't be a piece of cake for BA. Centennial will challenge them. I think BA's problem will be the apparent lack of an air attack. While the ground game for the Eagles is certainly good, I don't know if it will carry them in this game. I'm probably wrong though, but we'll see. I can't believe I'm going to say it but hey, GO COUGARS!

    • COLLAPSED LUNG?!?! I guess he just didn’t tell the coaching staff?
    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
