Depends on how much of each one you have. And what kinda team you have. If you pass the ball and run draws or misderections more of a finesse style offense its better to have speed. But if you have a team where you run between the tackles 40 times a game you need a bigger more durable back.

Yeah, what he said! Both is nice, too.

Both is obvously nice, but I would go with power. A great example is Brentwood Academy who has both. Holbert has the power, and Theo Townsand has the speed. However, Theo fumbles alot possibly because of his small size, he is a great running back but i would go with Holbert and the clock management over the speed back.

Just my opinion.

Speed and size everytime and of course ATHLETES, but this usually comes with speed! You can always find a decent fullback for power! I know alot of Coaches and they'll all tell you if you have team speed you can play with just about anyone!

i sort of agree , but look at north jackson last year they had a real big guy runnin' it but this year a real fast dude does da job they lost first their first game last year-went to the state in ala. 7a

Dont you love the back, who can burn you outside, but can deliver the powerful blow up the middle. But if you can have both, I'm with most of the people on this thread and i'll go with the power back. A speed back still needs a great line. The power back needs that line too, but i dont feel like he depends on them as much as the speed back does.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
