This one is a toss up between Hayes and Van Horne. Van Horne may have him here. I havent heard of anyone else getting 23 tackles in a game like Ian did against Cenennial. We will see how many he gets against those speedy rebels this Friday.

Keep your eyes on sophomores McDade and Burke from Ooltewah. They're sophomores, so if they keep progressing as they are, they'll be on this list next year.

I am going to have to agree with others on this one. Anthony McCallister of Austin East is one of the if not the best linebacker in the state. I can't compare him to some of the others listed on here, but he is without a doubt the most naturally instinctive linebacker in the Knoxville area. Someone mentioned Lankford of Halls... he is a hard nosed kid, but he is not really a natural linebacker. Remember this, linebackers are born they are not made. Lankford is not really a linebacker just because he plays the position. He is a good football player, but he is playing a position because no one else can even come close. Know that most teams play their best defensive player as a middle linebacker whether they have the tools or not.

Not sure how many James had but Hix had 23 tackles Friday night vs. Trousdale Cty. Not bad, huh?

I'd have to Bryson Pryor, Brian Reed, Ellory Harvest of Rockwood are the best trio of LBs in the state.

I beg to differ. Anhtony McAllister, Ed Marsh, and P.J. Moore of Austin East are the best trio in east tennessee. I have not seen the middle or west tennessee.

Alot of people seem to post the name of the best linebacker of the team they support. I think it's more credible to submit the name of someone who plays for another team, or even someone from a team you don't like. I'm gonna do that here. I don't like Austin East, but if there's a better linebacker than Anthony McAllister, it's not in this state. He's like a man playing with boys, and next year will be one of the top five most recruited athletes in the nation.
