Dusty Ray, Mr. Football?

What does everyone think about Dusty Ray (QB, DB @ Gordonsville) and his chances to be a Mt. Football finalist? I've seen him twice, once live and once on film, and he's pretty special. He rushed for 208 against Friendship and threw for 105 -- accounting for all three touchdown. He had an incredible game the week before against Monterey accounting for all five scores and picking off a couple of passes. I have no idea about his seasonal stats, but based on these two performances he's having a Mr. Football-type season. Can he make the short list?

DCA's Wooden is the best 1A back in the mid-state. Another potential finalist would be Joseph Ruddle at Wayne County.

Well, He's one heck of an athlete. One player in his way is Chris Wooden of DCA, who is also A Jr. Those 2 fight it out next tear for the award. But, I gotta say Mark Byrd will be Mr Football. Ok i agree they play a weak scheldule; however, look at what he has done. Great numbers this season and he has only played 3 quarters a game MAX. I dont know how he would do in a stronger region, but i do believe he would be impressive.

I say it will go to Byrd because he is a Senior and puts up gaudy numbers. It is pretty much a lock for Wooden next year though. It could go to him this year, but I think the tiebreaker is Seniority.

Dusty Ray is awesome. We couldn't stop him. He is a great runner and passer. Good Luck!

Dusty Ray can do more than Wooden. He can play running back, receiver or quaterback and be all state at any one of those positions. He is a lot like Mark Byrd. Wooden is an excellent running back, but Dusty brings more to the table.
