Most Underrated Players in the State

There are conistently many players throughout the state who don't get nearly the pub and attention that they deserve each year. Now is the time to list those guys who should be getting more "hype"...

 

Adrian Banks, Trezevant, 6'3 CG...Banks is one of the Top 15 players in the Senior class, and no one knows about him. Banks averaged over 27 ppg last year, and should push 30 ppg this year. Banks has a pure jumper, and good size, to go with smooth moves to the hoop, but he plays at little-known Trezevant and unkown Memphis Bobcats during the summer, so nobody knows of this guard...

 

Rodney Chatman, Haywood Co, 5'10 PG...Chatman is one of the five best PG's in the entire state, but gets no publicity for it. Chatman came out of nowhere last year to emerge on the scene, and only Andre Allen can get to the basket as well as Chatman...

 

Brandon Burney, Montgomery Central, 6'1 PG/2G...Burney has not escaped everyone's attention, as he has already signed with Austin Peay. Burney emerged this past year, and surpassed many guards who have been labeled "stars" for years. Burney is similar to Banks, and shoots it very well, to go along with his long arms and moves to the hoop...

 

Courtney Pigram, White Station, 6'0 2G...Pigram may be the #1 most underrated player in the State, and is rarely mentioned with the best in the state. Pigram is the best pure scorer in the State, and is absolutely deadly from NBA range and in. After exploding this summer, Pigram is getting many D-1 looks, and has been compared to former Oklahoma G Hollis Price with his long arms, heart, and scoring knack. Those in Memphis have known about Pigram for years, but he is about to really blow-up statewide...

 

Richard Delk, Jackson Northside, 6'5 WF/PG...Richard is often forgotten about and dismissed as not as good as his twin, Reginald. On the contrary, Richard is an outstanding all-around player that should be mentioned with the best in the state. Richard shoots the ball very well, and has the ability to play Point at 6'5. Richard has long arms, rebounds well, and is an outstanding shot-blocker...

 

Steve Blair, Carver, 6'5 WF...Like Banks, no one mentions Blair among the elite, but not many F's can match up with Blair at this level. Blair is a slashing Forward with a great body who simply knows how to put the ball in the whole. Also a great rebounder and slasher, Blair is a Top 20 Senior in the State...

 

Frank Holmes, Fayette-Ware, 6'9 BF...Holmes is a Top 5 player in the state, but is still a guy who no one mentions, both statewide and Nationally. Holmes is athletic, jumps very well, runs the floor, rebounds, and has a nice touch. Holmes has emerged late nationally, but should be a High Major signee this year...

Michael Newsome, 5'11" PG, Ooltewah High School... the kid can flat out shoot the rock, has the handles to match and has been starting varsity since his Soph. year... Everyone in Chattanooga knows not to leave him open from anywhere on the court, but everyone else in the state will have to learn the hard way.

Logan Pierce from Sycamore high school has been showing me alot in his preseason scrimmages averaging atleast 30 points

Justin Millsaps, Sequatchie Co., 6'0 PG

Add 6'5" Jarrod Bain from Camden Central High School. Quiet, respectful "A" student who is a wonderful role model to young kids who aspire to play the game. When he laces them up its almost as if he goes into that phonebooth and comes out with his uniform on. I say this because he's very mild mannered off the court. Cause when the ball gets tossed up he becomes a very aggressive player who plays very aggressively. 6'1" 8th grader played the point guard slot because that was what he was asked to do for his team. He has worked hard with the strength shoe and weights. Nicknamed "Superman" in junior high because of his demeanor from off court - on court. Weakness - has to develop consistent shot behind the arc. Last season range was 16-17 ft. It is difficult to keep him from getting to the basket. Still growing he will graduate at 17 years old. Because he's very quiet off the floor, playing in an average 2A district he's really been overlooked. Not to mention coach's son graduated from last year's club. Offensive sets were ran for his son. Granted he was a very good shooter, can coach really afford not to run set plays for a player has been physically blessed! Even with those circumstances the unselfish Bain was named his District Player of the year. Averaged double-double for the season. Probably close to triple-double because he's a good passer! Vertical leap over 40 inches - and a white kid at that! If he develops 20 ft jumper you have found a much quicker but smaller Larry Bird! I would be interested in hearing from any of their opponents who haved played against him!

neither of there teams will win many without the two especially antioch Darnell takes some of the pressure off AJ's shoulder
