How good will the OC boys be this year.....do you think they will be better than they were last year or just the same. Comments?

They will be as good as the teams wants to be, if they all want to be stars, or the standout, then they won't win many games, but if they play as a team, and only if they play as a team, i believe they will win several games. I believe 2nd year head coach mike greer needs another year with his program and i believe the rebels will get back that winning tradition and the pit will again be a tough place to come a play and go away with a win.

Boys are wanting to be stars? The coach shouldn't allow it to happen. The team is the reflection of the coach. This is high school, not junior college, you get what you put into it. The players are going backwards. When is everyone going to wake up and see where the future is heading! Listen to the radio after the game and see who gets the blame and then decide who's being selfish!

IN HIGH SCHOOL, HE MUST USE THE PLAYERS THAT WISH TO PLAY THE SPORT WHETHER THEY HAVE ANY BASKETBALL TALENT OR ABILITIES, FAST OR SLOW, ORWILL LISTEN AND RESPOND POSTIVELY TO INSTRUCTION(S)!

 

YOU 2 MIGHT CONSIDER SPENDING SOME QUALITY TIME NEAR THE BENCH AND HEAR AND WATCH COACH GREER DO HIS JOB BEFORE YOU TRY TO GET RID OF THE MAN. REMEMBER, A COACH CAN TELL HIS PLAYERS WHAT TO DO BUT CAN NOT GO OUT ON THE COURT AND DO IT FOR THEM.

i still think obion county is a very dangerous team.last year in the region,they gave fayetteware all that they can handle.i still think obion county is a very dangerous team in the tournaments.regardless of there record,i still think a few wins later here in the season regardless who it is against can do wonders.ive always told any team i coach it doesnt matter how you start bt how you finish.getting kids to believe longterm helps although deep down they still need some wins even if its very late.playing a 5 point game to Union City proves they can play close enough to win.im not from obion but from halls.i really like obion each time ive see them play.i really hope these guys can put it together even if its very late this year.i remember a halls girls team only won one game in the regular season in 86-87 school year but made it happen and got to the substate game with 5 wins and should have won the substate game that year.i remember jackson radio stations being behind them that year.anything can happen.those guys are still dangerous to play.

As a longtime observer of OCCHS roundball I would have to agree that the talent level is down some this year and what is there doesn't really fit Coach Greer's preferred style. Their record is abysmal but have been competitive in nearly every game. Just can't seal the deal and part of that is not having a "go to guy" who can create something off the dribble and make the defense honest. Too many spot up shooters who thing defense is something that keeps de-cows in!

you want to talk about knowledge! i know all about your knowledge! i played for the master and i know it takes hard work and lots of hours in the gym. we didn't always have the most athletic players but he knew how to turn us around, develop us and adjust his style to our abilities. it didn't hurt too that we worked on our weaknesses while at practice. i did ask him about the teams since he's been gone(######! ######!) and he told me that central would never be low on talent. he knew when he left that the program would go to pieces! plus i know for a fact that he never gave you the time of day! as far as the players, they do have talent and are doing the best with what they have to work with. why don't you tell them your opinion of them. as far as kids using this service, the players are kids too! knucklehead!

Son, get your facts straight.

 

The master must have not been telling you the truth!

Sometimes that happens to people under his control!!!!!!!!!!

Besides, the fact that I was with other coaches when he made the comment!

 

Time of day? Don't go there! You have no ideal what your talking about!

 

Your work ethics were different under Coach Whitby! But also were your listening abilities, too! It's each players duty to listen to the head coaches' instructions and determine how you need to play! The level that you obey these instructions determines your skill level and playing time? Or you might not have a ear attached

after he escorted you down the court.

 

Times have changed and so has the policy! The attitude adjustments and the ever open gym are no longer allowed by the administration.

 

Making comments to kids often yeild the results of (going in one ear and out the other one). They are the (star's) of today's team and know everything. But whether that kid listen's to your comments, does not change the fact of their skill level.

 

Respect is the key to life. You respect others and they will respect you!

To gain respect, you must tell the truth!
