I will be the first to say that I absolutely hate artificial turf but, with the current format, 5 games in 2 days would absolutely destroy a grass field, especially if it rained, so the artificial turf I guess is the way to go on that.

Maybe Vandy will have it put down soon and the blue cross bowl can move back to Nashville. I have missed 2 Clinic/Blue Cross bowls since 82, and to me, there is nowhere near the atmosphere at Murfreesboro that there was at Vandy. And yes, I was there at Vandy in I think the late 80's, for the ice bowl, where Volunteers had to go out on the field and scrape ice off the turf before the teams could play on it.

It's just a big thing for these kids to get to go to a big stadium ( compared to their own) and a big town, and play in an sec stadium like Vandy's and play for the championship there. I'm sorry if that is downing Mufreesboro but, that just the way I feel.

The only thing that Murf. has going for it is the artifical turf (that I hate, but like I said earlier, with 5 games that's about the only thing you can play it on), There is plenty of parking at Vandy right by the stadium, although they do charge you to park, and I'm sure that if Murf. hasn't started that yet they will. ;)

I am afraid that isn't going to happen. There has been a movement the past few years to get away from turf and back to grass. Some schools actually use that in recruiting. I actually look for MTSU to go to grass in the next few years. Can you name an SEC school now that has turf instead of grass? See what I mean???

Didn't Ol' Miss go to that new type of turf?

I was thinking that I saw that somewhere, maybe on one of their games.

That stuff really looks like grass, and I've noticed that a lot of schools have gone to it. I think that may be the way to go, if you want artificial turf. ;)

Most are going to an artificial grass. Like on the practice field at Vandy.

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
