Brentwood Academy 79, Knoxville Catholic 62

Josh Bone and Brandon Wright led the Eagles to an easy yet intense victory, while Tony Fox paced Catholic. BA was pretty sloppy and struggled at times to implement their offense against the Irish zone, but was clearly the better team and played reasonably well considering the early date in the season.

Unfortunately, the score wasn't the only story. Everyone at the game was treated to an embarrassing display of derision from the Knox Catholic fans, starting with the tipoff and ending a couple minutes after the game. The KCHS fans whined, cussed, screamed, and yelled from buzzer to buzzer, representing their school very poorly. The Irish coach was in on the action as well, drawing a technical foul late in the 1st Period. In addition, Tony Fox overshadowed his strong skills by yelling at the BA student section, fussing at the refs, and profanely complaining to some of his own fans. I respect his abilities -- he's a feisty, scrappy defender with a great shooting touch. But his actions contaminated any appreciation I could have had for his skills. It was very embarrassing.

Good win, Eagles. I hope you were as entertained by the KCHS fans as I was! :D

BA wins 79-61 I think.. Fox for Knox made several threepointers but also shot about 18. Unfortunatly he also acted like a 18 yr old punk. Breandon Wright played pretty good dunking on three consecutive offensive possesions. BA once again played 11 guys getting everyone into the action. Knox will have a decent season with Fox, but will hope they do not have see BA again in the sectionals.

It was interesting to watch. The BA players were just laughing at the fury of the parents in the stands, the constant swearing of the players on the court, and the out of control coach. If this had been anywhere near a close game, it would have been annoying, but it was more just embarrassing and funny.

Perfect examples; one of the KCHS parents was actually taunting a BA player at one point, and there were two intentional fouls on KCHS in the last 3 seconds. KCHS has some good players. They are small, but quick and very dangerous shooters. They could have a great year, but discipline will be key. Honestly, they need some leadership from the coaching staff and the parents

i was at the game and i dont see any thing wrong with their actions. maybe they yelled a little more than most teams, but they were just into the game and wanted to win BADLY. the determination on their faces told the story, the catholic kids that is. the ejected players and technical fouls, were clearly the ineffectiveness of the referees to control the game. anyway, catholic has a dynamite dandy of #12, who hit just about 234 three pointers in this one it seemed like. who is he? he should be getting some looks from the likes of florida and kansas, IMO. comments aand questions are encouraged. THANKS!!

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
