ELA
Knowing what we know now should Pete Rose be allowed in the Hall Of Fame? If not in the hall then should he be allowed in any capacity in Major League Baseball? If he had said he gambled on baseball but not a game that he was coaching or playing in, I would say yes just because of what he accomplished during his career as a player; however, he has now admitted he gambled on his games and that will prevent him from getting in! gobigred
Although I have never liked Pete Rose as a player, coach or person, I must admit that the all time leader in major league hits should be allowed into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the diamond. The Hall has admitted too many others (ex. Cobb, Ruth, Mantle) with well documented personal issues to be able to exclude Rose. Give him his spot in Cooperstown with a full disclosure of his career accomplishments and failures, but never allow him to be involved in baseball in any capacity again. Opperman
He knew the consequences of what he did, and he did it anyway. He is scum, and he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame because of what he did. The rule is permanently ineligible, not permanently ineligible until you give an admission and a quasi-apology to upstage the HOF election of two other players and, more than anything else, to promote the sales of your book so you can pay the mney you owe the mob. GradfromtheNest
I don't care what he did he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. The baseball Hall of Fame is an honor that should be based solely on your baseball accomplishments. Pete Rose is the best hitter in baseball history behind Ted Williams. Maybe he shouldn't be allowed to coach or manage, but he should definately be in the HOF!
DeepBall
Id like to see him get in just so everyone would stop talking about it. And he was a great hitter.
GradfromtheNest
True Deepball! Bottom line is he was an amazing hitter. That's what the HOF is all about. Put him in once and for all!
addictedtosports.com
I agre HOF only. You just can't trust him in any other capacity in the game.
redbaron515
He should be let in. Come on, he holds the major league record in career hits with 4,256!! That record will never be broken, you can count on that. I have to agree with the past few posts, especially gobigred. He needs to be there, even if he bet on baseball. The Commisioner needs to realize that.
addictedtosports.com
What is Bud Selig's motive for not letting him in? Pride? The legacy of Faye Vincent or A. Bartlett Giamati? Does he think he will let them down?
GradfromtheNest
Bud Selig should be fired. He's done nothing for baseball since he's been in there. I think DeepBall should be considered for the job!
