What's wrong with Jefferson Co. girls?

Jefferson Co. has a very strong tradition in girls basketball, but I have noticed a drop off the past couple of years. What are some of the thoughts out there as to why this is happening?

You might want to check the schedule this season..it is as tough as it gets Sevier Co., Mt. Juliet. Oak Ridge, Livingston and they also play Greeneville and Mo-West in district play. They are a very good basketball team and well coached. Look for them come tournament time.

Very good point. I like the fact they play a tough schedule and have been fairly competitive against these teams. It has been at least 4 years since they have beaten a Sevier Co. team and at least 3 years since they beat someone they were not superior to in talent. Lost a game Tuesday because of six players on the court after a timeout?

The excitement of the game sometimes gets to the players and coaches. Unfortunately theirs just happened to be toward the end of the game in a bad situation. Jefferson County will get it together and surprise some people.

I agree that something is going on with Jefferson County.

 

The main rotation all played AAU together and were very good , but somehow they don't even resemble that team anymore. They no longer look like a team who is confident in their game,teammates, or system. The group hardly shows any emotions while they're playing and just look uncomfortable playing with each other.

 

As far as individual talent this is one of the best groups to come through Jefferson County in a long time, but for some reason they just aren't putting it together. Coach Potts has definitely won with less talent, but it just seems like he is having a hard time motivating this particular team.

 

Jefferson County DOES have the potential to be a state contender . . . . . . but, unless the girls start playing with some heart ,trusting in each other, and buying into Pott's system thats a long way off.

 

 

Oh yeah....they aren't boxing out well, either!

Huge game coming up Friday nite @ Greeneville, who has only improved since their last meeting. Any predictions?

Friday will be a tough test for Jeff Co......Hopefully they'll come ready to play.

 

Gonna go out on a limb here and say Jefferson by 6.
