McEwen retro days

My dad went to McEwen a long time ago he was pretty good. he said McEwen was good. does ne one remember that or al watkins?

Daniel Puckett is very good and the Coach is pretty good wich equals an above average team.

When I went to McEwen during the early 80's we were pretty good. However, in the mid to late 80's when I was in HS we were very much out classed. Of course those were the days with East Robertson and Jo Byrns playing for the Region Championship. Also TCA (Clarksville Academy) with the Ayers twins were pretty good. That was a time when the girls teams were outstanding and the boys team really stunk.

 

I have good and bad memories. However, one of the best memories was a victory in late February my Freshman year when we beat Spencer Youth Center in a game at SYC. It broke a very long losing streak that extended over two seasons. It was great when we went to the District Tournament later the next week and everyone was in amazement when they announced our record prior to the drubbing we were about to take once again to the hands of Fitz Jones and company from ERHS.

 

However, it is very good to see the pride return to Warrior Basketball. I have full confidence in Coach Phil Ross and his philosophy. He was my assistant FB coach in HS and I am glad that he is now the Head BB coach. He will return MHS to roundball glory. GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with you warrior87 coach phil is a good coach not only in basketball but he is also a good softball coach. he has taken the softball team to the region just about every year and last year we bet DA for the first time ever and it was their first time to be beaten at their field and in the district. good luck boys on thurs and fri. i hope to see you in the championship game at 8.

McEwen has had some good teams in the past such as the days of kerryross,philiip shanks kevin jones scott hooper and edings,,,that team battled one of the best around that year with East Robertson,,,,as for best players pucketts the best from there probably ever ,,,dave boatman was great too.unbelivable dunker..as for what phils done hes done a great job,,,its a joy to see them be succesful............

you also have to remember keith ross and scotty harrell which were two years younger than kerry and philip. they also battled the East Robertsons with them guys and those years were good even though i was only five when scotty harrell and keith ross were seniors.

His team split with Dickson (a AAA school now) in his senior year and had the MHS record for most wins (boys basketball) until last year's team.
