Got to put in my 2 cents on John Pigg! He is on a tear!!! Knocked the cover off the ball in Murfreesboro and continued last night. Really taking great advantage of the chances he's getting.

What a double-edged sword... tell your kids and grand-kids how you played behind Kyle Waldrop, but have to live through the fact that your playing time will be miniscule! He's handled that as well as any person ever could! (Of course, it's no surprise to those of us that know John!)

South Doyle 5 - West 3

For the second consecutive night a West pitcher pitches a 3-hitter. Unfortunately for the Runnin Rebels, both outings resulted in a loss. West starter Adam Snyder only allowed two balls in the air to the outfield. 2 hbp, no walks, 3 hits, several Ks, 2 earned runs in 7 innings. Snyder stayed at 85-86 for the entire game.

South Doyle's pitching was as effective. After a West baserunning error helped to snuff a 1st inning rally, starter Lee Vannoy settled down and threw shutout ball. Lance McClain relieved in the 5th.

Except for the 6 West errors  , it was a well-played game. SD's Zach Ross made a fine play on a foul pop that many would have given up on. Kirkland was his usual solid self behind the plate.

Cody Brown with a Grand Slam and John Pigg with a solo shot

Cale Iorg left the yard who went 1-2 or 1-3 with a K

Cale was 1 for 2 tonight. His HR was a good shot over dead center field. Cale also made a good play to get Scott Dean as he went very deep in the hole and throw Scott out at 1st.

That was all the highlights for Karns. <_<

William Blount 13 West 12 in 10 innings

After throwing consecutive 3 hitters and losing to Heritage and South Doyle, respectively, West decided to wake the bats up tonight. Too bad West also allowed William Blount baserunners to run wild via a combination of errors, walks, passed balls, and errant throws.

When the dust settled William Blount earned a hard fought 13-12 win in 10 innings.

Justin Young homered off starter David Zeanah to lead off the bottom of the 1st after West had plated two runs in the top on starter Phillip Tucker. That's the way it went. WB had a 7-3 lead at one point, but West came from behind twice. Hookman, Hiles, and Powell homered for West. WB lifted Tucker after the 7-3 lead. Stott, Wojo, and Byrd also pitched. Hiles relieved Zeanah in the 5th and went the remainder of the game, continually getting out of bases loaded jams.

West has some serious mental rehab to do before facing Morristown West, McCallie, and Hunters Lane this weekend. Oh, there's also another district game scheduled for tomorrow against Sevier County.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
