I heard that Powell was starting up a true middle school football program like those at Oak Ridge, Maryville, etc. If so, is this sanctioned by the Knox Co. school system? Is this true?

Yes, Powell is starting a Powell Middle School team, but Knox County will not sanction it because they are not a member of the TMSAA.

 

The team is going to be an extension of the high school team and will be under the "umbrella" of the high school football booster club. Coaches have been already been hired. A 9 game schedule of "real" middle school teams from other counties has been put together.

 

We are really excited about the possibility of moving the feeder program to another level in Powell.
