FullcourtPress
It seems to me that they got rid of a coach that wants to work hard and had kids that worked, but was not rehired. So is the message that OCCHS is sending to its students, parents and future coach/coaches, is that we don't want you to work hard? Because if you work hard and you are successful you will be fired. Maybe I am just looking at this wrong. Anyone know who is wanting the job or is there anyone that wants it? coachnobody
WRONG? I AGREE THAT "YOU" ARE WRONG! THERE ARE OTHER COACHES AT OCCHS THAT HAVE WORKED HARD AND DEVELOPED WINNING PROGRAMS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN FIRED! IN BASEBALL, JOHN BUCHANAN, HAS DEVELOPED A WINNING PROGRAM WITH A POSTIVE ATTITUDE. HE HAS HAD A WINNING SEASON FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS. IT'S THE SAME IN CROSS COUNTRY, PAM DANIEL, HAS A WINNING PROGRAM THAT HAVE BEEN TO THE STATE FINALS FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THERE ARE OTHER COACHES WHO HAVE DEVELOPED WINNING PROGRAMS AT OCCHS IN THE PAST YEAR'S. THEY HAVE WORKED HARD AND PUSHED THEIR KIDS TO ACHEIVE GOALS AND THE KIDS ENJOYED WORKING HARD. GIRLS BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, CROSS COUNTRY, BASEBALL, OR OTHER ATHLETIC SPORTS ARE THE SAME AS ENGLISH, PE, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS, MATH, OR HISTORY. THEY ARE JUST CLASSES THAT REQUIRE A CLASSROOM TEACHER. WHEN THE CLASSES ARE HELD, DURING OR AFTER SCHOOL HOURS DOES NOT MATTER! THEY ARE UNDER THE DIRECTION AND SUPERVISION OF A TEACHER THAT IS EMPLOYED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION! AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE BY MANY ADMINSTRATORS IN OUR STATE, IN THE HIGH SCHOOL SETTING - THE COACH IS JUST ANOTHER NAME USED FOR THE TEACHER THAT'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLASS!!!!!!! PERIOD! END OF DICUSSION!! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SPENSER WAS NOT REHIRED AS A TEACHER. HE WAS NOT FIRED AS A COACH! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION HAS THE FINAL WORD! EVERYTIME!! THAT'S LIFE!!! ********************************************************* VIA THE GRAPEVINE: THERE HAVE BEEN ATLEAST 3 PEOPLE WHO HAVE APPLIED AND INTERVIEWS WILL START AROUND OR ON MAY 15th. FullcourtPress
Any predictions on how OCCHS will do next year with a new coach??? Will they be worn out by christmas or will all their players transfer??? What will Smith do now that the "Fuhrer" (sp) is gone???? Oh and coachnobody, sorry if offended you under this topic. I was just upset that Coach Hoffman was not rehired.
CoachD33
Eddie is a hard worker, comes from a great family in Martin, and has a good reputation. He has improved the programs at Fulton Ky. & Spring Hill. This will be his first chance to coach a program on solid footing. It would be hard for anyone to come in to 13AA with the kind of programs in the district but I know Eddie will work hard and if the talent remains OC will be very competitive. CoachD33
Just to bring this thread up to date, Spencer Hoffman has been named Head Girls Coach at Marmaduke Arkansas. This is a 2A school in East Arkansas that has had a great deal of success. Hoffman was also quoted in the Union City Messenger that his former assistant, Katie Busby, is going to Gibson County to assist David Russell. teachthegame
Spencer will do a great job. Rumor has it that some of the upcoming Freshmen are going to Gibson Co. Any truth there?
CoachD33
Spencer will do a great job. Rumor has it that some of the upcoming Freshmen are going to Gibson Co. Any truth there? Haven't heard that but it makes sense now that Slick Rick Smith is headed to GC as an assistant and coach @ Spring Hill Jr. High.
