Congrats to all the Patriots players, coaches,and fans. Whew!! What a close game.

 

The region is tightening up.

Question: "Where was the defense in this one?"

 

So is it Greenbrier and Page the only teams in the region that are undefeated with 2-0 region records?

Yep! They are the only two left undefeated in the region.

 

Wow! I was hoping Page would win, but didn't think they would. It appears they both played poorly to some extent. I bet ol' Coach Mac will not sleep well tonight!

 

Congrats to the Patriots. I guess they are coming around and improving as the season progresses. This region has definitely been topsy-turvy this season so far....and it's not even half way through yet!

I think that there were 8 turnovers in this one. The team that takes care of that will have a better chance down the road. Not too many penalties in a hard fought game.

Page had two 100 yd rushers.

Not a poorly played game some of the turnovers had excitement to them.

 

A typical Page/Marshall Co. game----both teams still finding their way. I think Marshall co. misses Moffett.

Marshall Co.'s 1st drive was stopped at the Page 29 when they went for it on 4th & 8, but their pass was broken up by Cass Leatham. Page took over and advanced to the MC 34 on runs mainly by Josh McMurray. On 4th & 6, Marquiese Patton ran the ball to the MC 23 for the 1st down. Page appeared stalled at the MC 17 and put a field goal on the board, but MC was callled for unsportmanlike conduct giving Page a 1st down on the 9. Josh McMurray scored from the 5 and Aaron Crowley add the PAT to make it Page 7-0 at the 3:47 mark. After the kickoff to MC, they ran two plays and then fumbled the ball and Page took over on the 14. Murray scored again from the 2, PAT good, Page now leads 14-0 with 45.6 secs remaining the 1st qtr. The quarter ended with MC with the ball at their 24.

 

On the 1st play of the 2nd qtr., MC fumbled the ball and Page took over at the 27. After two Page running plays, Patton scored on a 17 yd. run at 11:09 and Crowley added the PAT as Page now leads 21-0. On the Page kickoff, MC's Cameron Johnson returned the ball to the MC 44. After a running play, MC's Kevin Bishop threw what appeared to be a TD pass to Johnson, but MC was called for an illegal block in the back as the ball was placed back on the Page 21. Bishop then ran for the TD, PAT good, Page 21, MC 7 at 10:14. After the kickoff to Page, they ran 6 plays and got the ball to the MC 40, but then fumbled the ball and MC returned it to the Page 14. Page was called for a personal foul on the play and the ball was placed on the 7. #19 scored from the 4 as Page still leads 21-14 with 6:36 remaining in the half. After the kickoff to Page, they fumbled the ball on the 3rd play and MC took over on the MC 38. MC's drive appeared stalled and they set up for a FG from the Page 31, but it was a fake as Rudy Lyles threw a TD to Johnson, PAT good, score tied at 21 all. Page ran the clock out after the kickoff and the half ended.

 

MC kicked off to Page to start the 2nd half as Page began their drive at their 40. Page's Patton mainly ran the ball on several plays to the MC 12 where the drive stalled and Crowley hit the FG as Page regains the lead at 24-21 with 8:59 left in the 3rd qtr. After the kickoff to MC, they ran two plays and then threw an interception to Page's Crowley as Page took over on their 40 at 8:01. Their drive stalled and Page punted to the MC 18. Page stopped MC and their punt was blocked by Cody Stubblefield and recovered by Crowley for the Page TD, PAT good, Page leads 31-21 at 4:14. Marshall's next drive was stopped at their 35 and they punted to Page at their 36, but an interference with Page's fair catch placed the ball at the MC 49. Page ran the ball to the MC 22 as the qtr. ended.

 

In the 4th qtr., Page's drive stopped at the MC 12 and Crowley hit the FG to make it 34-21 at 10:22. On Page's kickoff to MC, Johnson returned the ball to the Page 20 and #19 scored the TD from the 2 to make it Page 34-28 at 9:14. After Page's next drive was stopped, they set up for the punt, but threw a pass for what appeared to be a 1st down, but they were called for an illegal shift. Page then punted the ball to the MC 12 at 6:13 remaining. After several MC runs, they attempted a pass, but it was intercepted by Page's Kyle Denham who returned it about 50 yds. for the TD at 4:00 remaining. Page attempted a two point play, but the pass was incomplete as Page leads 40-28. MC passed the ball down the field and Wainwright scored to make it 40-35 Page at 1:35. Page recovered the onside kick and ran the clock out to take the win

I was going to post a link with the stats from this game from "The Tennessean", but apparently the deadline was missed and only the score appeared. Hopefully, they'll have the stat report in tomorrow's edition.
