I know this will stir a little controversy for the DII schools, but based upon results so far, I think this is a fair assessment. There are some from the smaller classifications that deserve some mention: David Lipscomb (5-1); Boyd Buchanan (5-1); Huntingdon (5-1); Tyner (5-1); Knoxville West (6-1)

So, let the comments begin; I fully expect it won't satisfy all. I know there are also some teams with multiple losses already that might be better than some on the list, but I still think through this past week this is a fair analysis.

Again, no respect for the undefeated Franklin Rebels... oh well.

For what it's worth, here are the Top 25 per the power ratings of the four services that rate teams across all classifications. At least we can probably all agree now that Riverdale is number one:

First rating: Elmo Branam

Second rating: Sonny Moore

Third rating: Ken Massey

Fourth rating: unapproved website

Total at the end

dont those ratings go by how teams did last year too tho, so that isn't exactly true for how teams are this year...well except riverdale of course they are #1

All ratings systems, whether for high schools or colleges, have to have a base, so these ratings services probably had their initial ratings based in large part on last year's results. However, as this season progresses and actual games are played, the current ratings will eventually move towards a power rating based on 2004 results only. These ratings will have their most meaning by Week 10.
