Does everybody play Rocky Top?

I'm not one to pay close attention to the band - usually manage to miss halftime activities - but is it just me or does it seem like everybody is playing Rocky Top this year? Great tune but enough is enough.

agreed, its bad enough that its one of the worst songs in college football, but now this overhyped piece of music has made its way to high schools now. play a real college fight song, like the victors

Clinton doesnt play Rocky Top. They have the Dragon Beat that they play every 10 sec. its even gotten so bad that they play it when the other team gets a 1st down and their playing it in celebration of the other team not scoring on us.

Westview plays Rocky Top and they have for years. The other night we played ballard ky and beat them 61-0. Imagine how many times the fans heard Rocky Top!

Huntingdon doesnt play it, the band director im told hates the song. she had to play it all the time when she was in band, all those years ago, so she doesnt want to hear it or somthin like that. we play the horse everytime a touchdown is made.

Midway doesn't play it. Whenever we get a touchdown our band always plays something different and I love it that way, people won't get bored of the same ole song!

Actually, I think the Michigan fight song is the best plus it really gets to robjim who is an Ohio Sate fan. thumb

Michigan's Hail To the Victors is a good one, I also like Oklahoma's Boomer Sooner also.

 

Volunteer High School has been playing Rocky Top for as long as I can remember.

I agree it is played too much by Tennessee high schools.....Poorly by many I might add....It is one of the many traditions of the Volunteers and it doesn't mean or have the same effect at the high school level...Now if a high school could rent The Pride of the Southland Band out for a Friday night that would be different.... ..But since that can't happen...High Schools get your own song!!!!!!!

All I say is that, You won't be hearing rocky top to much when Tennessee plays The Alabama Crimsion Tide On October the 23rd. ROLLLLLLLLLL TIde!!!
