Greeneville basketball is looking to have another very good team this year. With alot of depth and skill they look as if they could make a run this year. What are some of your thoughts?

Who is expected to start besides Shumate and Champion? I am assuming Eric Anderson will start as he was effective off the bench last year. Who looks good to fill the other 2 spots and who will shine off the bench?

It looks like it will be Tyler Bailey,a senior shooting guard, and a 6'4 sophomore who just moved here from florida, named jonathon murner, this kid can play anywhere on the floor, but will probably play the 3 and have shumate at 4, or he may play the 4 slot and shumate would play the 3, but either way you will see 8-9 guys a night on the floor

Yeah, these look like the preseason starters: Andrew Shumate, Tracy Champion, Eric Anderson, Tyler Bailey, Jonathon Murner or B.J. Washington. But with such a deep bench their will be several boys getting playin time.

Watched them scrimmage Daniel Boone and Sullivan Central on Saturday and they did not really play very good in the scrimmage against Daniel Boone but they still won by four or five points. Then in the afternoon game against Central they played much better and won by six or eight. Central looks like a very good team! The devils should have some depth this year and foul trouble should not completely take them out of games! Good luck Big Greene!

Your right, Greene Devil Fan, this years team will be deep in the depth chart, Shumate averaged 19 points a game last year, and can get the Rebounds, Jonathan murner is also a great addition to the Greeneville team, Tyler Bailey has probably the best work ethic ive seen from any of them, he's really pushed this year, but the whole Devil team works to the max and has great discipline, it will be a season to remember.

Greeneville - Clinton was a very good game. Greeneville has an outstanding team which returns about ten players from a twenty win team a year ago. The game went down to the wire with Greeneville holding for the last shot (about 25 seconds); a foul called on a drive with about 3 seconds left (Greeneville in the double bonus) and kid makes 1 of 2 for the margin of victory. Clinton pressed the whole game as usual, but Greeneville very disciplined and patient with their tempo (although Clinton did force some turnovers). Excellent game - look for Greeneville to have a very good year. Interesting sidenote - Clinton has played three games and has yet to attempt a one and one free throw (I don't know if I've ever heard of that).

 

 

Clinton - Oak Ridge at 10:30 am Saturday; winner plays again at 5:30 against Cleveland in all liklihood. Not a great situation for Clinton or OR, but if you commit to play in the tournament and with all the sponsors - you have to play it.

In the Clinton game the other night, Tracy Champion, a senior force in the paint was absent and not at the game. His grandfather in Chicago passed away and he was there with his family. The Greene Devil family's thoughts go out to him and his family. He should be back for their game Saturday. Also B.J. Washington was injured during the game. As of now not sure how serios the injury to his ankle is!

Finally found a score on this board that Greeneville beat Clinton last night 44-43.  Clinton has been scoring 80-90 points a game.  Anyone see this game and could comment on it ?  Did Greeneville get any home cooking on their home court ?  Will Clinton/OR game be played ?  Be surprised if it did .

Greeneville was not shooting particularly well in this game but their defense was outstanding as usual. If Shumate's shots had been falling they would have put Clinton away before halftime.The officiating in this game was awful with both teams getting crappy calls all night. The test will be tonight's game against lightening-quick Bearden. They ran circles around Oak Ridge on Wednesday.
