Alcoa vs David Lipscomb

I have just sat by and listened to poster after poster bash lipscomb and predict an alocoa win, and then have the nerve to call lipscomb "cocky".  It humors me that people could truly believe alcoa can blow out lipscomb.  Granted, last years alcoa game means absolutely nothing, but its really hjard to imagine that same team has the potential to blow out a very versatile and stingy lipscomb.  As a previous player of the past two season, i know that alcoa has a very dangerous squad, but be assured that lipscomb is ready and well prepared to controll any weapon you have in the back field.  I know that lindsey is a good back, but lipscomb has played against and shut down better.  We have faced the likes of Lamarcus Coker(#2 rated all-purpose back in the country) in a scrimage and it did not affect the outcome of the score, as well as many others in the past.  Be assured that lipscomb is ready for alcoa.  I will not give a prediction about the outcome of the game, but i think that alcoa will have their hands full with this bunch of lipscomb players.  Matt/burton Elrod, jaime wilkerson, austin rogers are just four of several players that have the opportunity to make huge plays at any time.  After what happened last year, everyone better believe that lipscomb will not underestimate anyone they play.  I will be there on Friday, and i hope it will be a good game.  get ready alcoa, if by some way you do win, you better believe that lipscomb will make you earn it..  Good luck to lipscomb.

AFR,

If Dustin ran behind SEC caliber lines he'd do better.

Wow, Copernicus! That's some deep thinking. You mean to tell me that backs do better when they run behind good offensive lines?!?!?!?!? Stop the presses!!!!! This guy has uncovered the holy grail, the missing link, the DaVinci code!

As I sit here sipping pure, refreshing water from my bottle, I am stumped by the outcome of this game.  It seems my Ram Train got derailed, so now I am left with the Tornadoes to represent those of us from the hills over here.  Everhow Lipscomb beat Alcoa last year I am not sure, but man did they do a number on our Tornadoes, then got their own number done on 'em. Anyway, I've got some Whisker-do's and Whisker-don'ts for the game:  Both of these teams have the same Ultimate Fantasy : A State Championship.  Lipscomb has been lighting up scoreboards like Golden Willows.  Alcoa has their core group of Super Stallions.    If it comes down to the trenches, neither team has that many Goliaths, so Let's Get After It you Little Bigs.  DL is Flirting With Greatness after 2 consecutive trips and looking for a Return to Glory, while the Tornadoes are looking to make a Hostile Takeover of DL's championship spot.  Both teams are Fearless coming into this one and both offenses are a Handful for the opponent.  Even after the expert Sperduto picked up the Mustangs Flashing Signals, they haven't stopped their Heartstoppper of an offense.  After seeing all these excuses, Alcoa better find some kind of extra large Water Dynamite if it rains.  So ladies and gentlemen, Bada Bing, there you have it, this will be a great match-up here in America the Beautiful.

Wow that was so incredibly written. Not sure what any of it means....I just know that the Tornadoes are One Bad Mother and even if we get an Autumn Drizzle on the field United the Tornadoes will stand and it will be Armagedon for the Ponies...

There is a lot of talking about this game but you flatlanders are going to be surprised at how much these Tornadoes have improved. Bigger, faster, stonger....and with a bigger faster stronger line we will open some huge holes in the stable to run through. I read where the Mustangs lost the little number 13 who reaked havoc in the secondary last year. Without him and that 44 kid I think your defense will be a mere shadow of last year......

Hey Goph.

How is Mount Nebo doing this year?  Did they make the playoffs?

Ted, do you not ever watch ESPN or are you to busy watching FOXNEWS.

Mount Nebo got beat by Mount Holyoke last Saturday on the last play of the game. Holyoke's big 6'4" 260 lbs. Italian OT (Josh Stewart) scored on a fumble roosky play.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
