tournament is a round-robin type affair with play on wednesday, friday and saturday. Games include:

I think these will be great games. All of the teams are pretty tough. And the tourny should be interesting as it is every year.

On day one UH upset Happy Valley50-43. David Crockett knocked off Gatlinburgh Pittman. Hampton beat Science Hill and Elizabethton beat West Greene 45-31. Cloudland was leading Tennessee High 26-13 when I left in the 2nd quarter.

Congrates on your win Coach. How did West Greene look? Did they try to draw a lot of charges on you?

West Greene is a hard-nosed basketball team. They did draw several charges, hit several 3 point shots, and play good defense. The game was close until the Cyclones picked up their defensive intensity during the 3rd and halfway through the 4th quarter. They extended a close score at the half to an 18 point lead in the 4th. You cannot take West Greene lightly.

We can't take anyone lighty this season. We have to show up and play ever game on both ends or we will be going home with a big Loss.

What happened, is Tennessee High as good as they were last year?

Tennessee High lost two great players to graduation. Courtney Watkins and Mindy Carter are now playing college ball, so Tennessee High is probably not as good as they were last year. However, they have a solid Junior class and should improve as the season progresses. I would not be surprised to see them reach the regional tournament. Cloudland is a good single A basketball team, who should give Elizabethton a stiff challenge on Friday.

Cloudland jumped on Tennessee High but had to win the game at the free throw line. Credit TH for the comeback. Lunsford, Banner, McGuire were can all shoot. Santana was cool down the stretch also. Mathis, Houston and Saultz (Spellcheck) are tough down low. McGuire shoots beautifully off the dribble inside fifteen feet. Expected to see a little more of Jessica Ledford and Jessica Davis might be back for Friday's game.

The Elizabethton vs Cloudland matchup is interesting. Cloudland appears to have more shooters but in an inside-out game, matching up with Baughman and Pietrowski will be very tough. Hopson and Bush will contribute plenty in time, but Cloudland brings a lot of muscle off the bench.

The Cyclone trapping defense will test Cloudland tremendously; and Valneesha Redd guarding Lunsford might be the tournament's best matchup.

Wouldn't be surprised to see both teams employ a box-and-one: Redd on Lunsford and possibly Banner or even McGuire on Cameron Crapps early; but if Redd gets in foul trouble, we could see Cyclones play deeper than they appear they can go against Cloudland. But better do find out now than later, right coach17? Can't wait!

On day 2 Tennessee High blasted UH by about 35. Morristown West beat Crockett by 30+, West Greene beat Hampton by about 10, Elizabethton beat Cloudland 68-26, and Happy Valley was up on Science Hill in the 1st when I left.
