When i first saw this topic I had my mind mad up. I am a Boyd fan first and fore most, however, i do believe that atchley is very deserving of the award. He made alot of big open field tackels from is FS spot 7 to be exact. He also had the big field goal block return, which should have put the nail in but thats football. DCA came back and played an amazing half of football. Oh and by the way my first instinct was #23 for DCA. He played a heck of a football game. I believe we are talking about the same person. What a great game to watch and be a part of for the players. Both great teams. Peardon and Wooden those kids are great running backs in any classification you put them in. Congrats to DCA, you deserve it. Your coaches did a great job, hats off to them.

I also would have given it to DCA's #23 Drew Jackson. There were a few plays that Peardon got the better of him, but Jackson made some major plays in the backfield when DCA needed it and anchored the DCA secondary that was down 2 starters by the end of the game. In addition, next to Wooden, Jackson is the most unselfish person on DCA's team. A REAL class act.

I don't understand how the MVP can be given to anyone on a defense that gives up 338 rushing yards and 24 unanswered points. MVP's should go to the winning team, in this case Mark Thompson who shut down everything up the middle the whole game. But, if anyone on Boyd's defense deserved an MVP it was #25, Henley. He made big hit after big hit and had more tackles.

i agree with u hiker..mvps should go to the winning team.event hough i am a boyd fan thompson was killin boyds line in the 2nd half especially after payne got hurt. if someone was to get it henley was very deserving b/c he was bringin it but ig uess they thought that was a huge play for boyd which it was and gave it to atchley for running that blocked fg back. #23 for DCA played a very good game also

MVP is an individual award based on an individual performance. Don't know who votes but a player on the losing team shouldn't be disregarded.

Congrats to all the winners and runner-ups. This was a good weekend.

My Vote goes to Drew Jackson with 6 solo tackles, the biggest of which came in OT when he dropped Mr. Football for a 6 yard loss putting Boyd in a serious bind.

It seemed to me to be pitty award to a team who played a close game.

That dude had more missed tackles than he did tackles, so how in the world do you feel that he deserved the mvp. #13 for the bucs stepped up and mad some good tackles against a back who should've bulldozed him, so STOP HATIN, and start Congradulatin.

Good job bucs yall had a good season, DCA can't talk cuz the series is 1-1.l

Could you DCA people complain a little more? Thats all I have read on here since they named Peardon Mr. Football. I remember reading that if you all had a gold ball you would be happy, you have it now so shut the complaining up. Obviously DCA's defense did a great job. If I remember correctly someone of Boyds team two years ago when they lost the finals won the defensive MVP and I believe that one of DCA's players won it last year when they lost. No one was complaining then.

Actually, both MVP's went to Boyd players in 2003.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
