why would he want to go to marion, he already coached the best two athletes to come from marion at boyd the past five years in peardon and woodard.

you can't have a list like that without the best marion county player ever in eddie brown. he was an awsome player at ut and a preatty good free safty and punt return in the nfl. i also think you have to include bill baker as well.

i think hunter wallace will be a break out player for boyd this year. i have been watching him for years and been very cool with his progress, and i think this is his year to show how good he could be. it all depends on his attitude.

who is going to be the pass catchers on the team. they should be fine with the hathaway kid running but does the new qb have anyone to throw to.

When i first saw this topic I had my mind mad up. I am a Boyd fan first and fore most, however, i do believe that atchley is very deserving of the award. He made alot of big open field tackels from is FS spot 7 to be exact. He also had the big field goal block return, which should have put the nail in but thats football. DCA came back and played an amazing half of football. Oh and by the way my first instinct was #23 for DCA. He played a heck of a football game. I believe we are talking about the same person. What a great game to watch and be a part of for the players. Both great teams. Peardon and Wooden those kids are great running backs in any classification you put them in. Congrats to DCA, you deserve it. Your coaches did a great job, hats off to them.

I wouldn't call Boyds lose to Baylor a 5-5 team a bad lose. They play in the super 7 with MUS, Mcallie, MBA too name a few. All great football teams. They also beat good Walker Valley, FCS, Watertown, Whitwell, and GP teams. Most of those teams are 3A, 4A, or a good 2A teams. Name that many good teams that Coalfield has beaten. None thats what i thought. Greenback, Midway those two teams couldn't stay on the field with any of those teams except maybe Whitwell. Mark my word you won't be able to stay on the field with Boyd. Private or Public it doesn't matter, Matt Peardon deserves this award. There is not a more deserving back in all of football. If for some reason he doesn't win this award it is a crying shame.

BOYD! there d is by far the fastest in 1A. They have only given up 15points all year to 1A teams, and that was in the playoffs. As they shut there region out in the regular season. Not too mention they only lost one game and beat many 3A and 4A teams. Boyd offense may get all the attention, but this year will be the same as least year as Boyd's D wins them another state title.

Listen, I have been a boyd fan for the past two years, and will be a boyd fan for the remainder of this year as well as next year. My brother is a junior at boyd and a preaty decent little football player for them. However, I am a whitwell highschool graduate and i will take up for one man. That man is Wes Green, he is a great football coach and has done an amazing job turning a not so good program into something to have pride in. There going to win this game, but it will be a close game. They don't have the speed like SP does, but they have the determination and heart that they get from a good coach. Yeah if they somehow make it back to play boyd again then its a good season for them. They just can't compete with boyd. Not many people in 1A are going to be able to. Coach Akins is a class act he did not run the score up on them the first time, and i can and will make the bet if they play again he will not put up 59 on them because he knows that he has no reason too. He will save is stars for the next round even the second string. Boyd will repeat, and i am pround to say go Bucs, and Go Whitwell tomorrow.

I graduated from a public school, I was there when boyd started getting good. They had players from Marion County where i was from, but I never heard of them getting recruited. It just so happens my brother playes for them now, and they are better than they have ever been. They don't recruit, they just offer more than the publics do so people send there kids there because they want the best for them. Stop the crying you 1A publics got want you wanted, the best is leaving 1A next year so you can always know that you would have never won if you wouldn't have cryied so much.

I like Boyd's chances this year. They have been there the past two years, and should get back with no problems. They also always seem to step it up with the level of the team that they are playing. So if they make it once again, which should not be a problem watch out cause you can talk about wooden all you want, matt peardon is one heck of a running back. No one has stoped him this year or last year, and i will put my money on the defending state champs. You public schools it stinks for you, but you got no chance. Go Bucs!

I agree Boyd, CPA, and DCA have to be in the top three. These other teams may be undefeated, however they haven't played the teams Boyd and CPA have to get there only lose. Come the playoffs you will see how bad those polls are, when you have two of these three teams one being Boyd playing for the state, and the other being the winner of CPA and DCA. These three teams are also the last three team to play in the BCB bowl the past two years. So how could team who don't play anyone be ranked ahead of them. Its just plain dumb, because those teams have no hope of getting to the BCB bowl and if for somereason they do make it out of the west like USJ or Mt. Pleasent that just gives Boyd an easy repeat. I'll answer that one, yes I am a 2000 graduate of Whitwell High School. I graduated fourth in my class, and am currently a senior at UTK. My brother is a junior at Boyd, and have seen the curriculum that boyd offers such as there summer reading list and the class that are offered over there. I would have benifited greatly if i would have taken the opportuinty my brother did. So I do believe with out a shadow of a doubt that the education is better. On the other issue, Peardon is from Jasper not Whitwell, he wouldn't have been a tiger. Not to mention the previous post is true, My family has move to Chattanooga we have been living there for over a year now. So this is all just crap, When i was playing at Whitwell, Boyd beat us but no one ever complained then about playing them as a private school. stink it up go out there and win the rest of your games because its possible to win out. However if you do make it deep enough into the playoffs, just start praying now. No one in the east will beat Boyd in 1a this year. The first and only test in 1a they are going to have is who they play in the BCB Bowl CPA or DCA. Boyd to repeat!

Wes Green is a great football coach. He has done an amazing job at Whitwell, I should know since i played for him. So don't talk about teaching the coach a lesson. However, i am pulling for the Bucs and my brother. I just don't think that you should talk about another teams coach especially when he is a class act. Go Bucs tonight.

Boyd is the better football team. I am a Whitwell High graduate, and very proud of it. My brother playes at Boyd, and is a very good football player for them. Whitwell has a great team on them this year, the second best team in the region. However, they can not compete. Mark my words Boyd is the better program by far. 1 state to none, the only time we got close was 91' 13 years ago, can't compete. I really wish they could, but i have seen the bucs play, and they are the better team. THEY WILL DEFEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whitwell does have a good football team this year. However I think the one thing that makes this game lopsided is the speed of Boyd. After coming in and watching them this past week, they are so fast. Faster than any other 1A team i have seen in a long time. I don't really think this is going to be much of a football game cause no one, i mean no one is going to stop Matt Peardon this year. SP will never beat Boyd this year. They lost way to many seniors from there team last year, and Boyd didn't lose that many players. This game wasn't close last year, and will not be close this year. Boyd is going to run through the East this year without any real challange. There real test will be in Dec. when they have to defend there title against DCA or CPA. My beat is DCA in a rematch.

While this is a great game year in and year out. However I don't think that this game can be considered in this thread as one of the best high school rivalry. How about the South Pittsburg/Marion game now thats a good rivalry. And as far as when Boyd moves up to 2A, I believe S.P. will still keep them on there schedule because if they were to win the Blue Cross Bowl again they wouldn't want people saying it is because Boyd went to 2A.

There is no stoping the Bucs in East Tennessee this year.
