I wouldn't lump teams like Wartburg and Oneida in the same catagory as CAK, Cosby, and Rockwood. I don't think that Wartburg or Oneida can hang with what I believe are the 3 best teams in the region.

Although it was just a scrimmage, both coaches played to win and played their starters when Wartburg and Cosby played several weeks ago. Don't count Wartburg out just yet..

  • 3 weeks later...
Didn't CAK crush wartburg earlier in the season? Not sure of the exact score but it was something like 84-43.

They sure did,but Wartburg started slow this year for some reason, they have came on strong and beat some very good teams,Including Rockwood,Harriman,Coalfield,(twice)

Tied cosby in a scrimmage and upset Lenoir city, they may not win another game, but you can't count them out of anything yet.....

Answer to the initial question.

No...why?

Cosby, Unaka, Rockwood, etc...my advice is win the region so there's a shot to host the sectional...depending on how large the CAK gym is.

CAK gym is fairly sizeable for Class A. One side seating, however it goes up about 20-25 rows. Other side of the gym is a stage.

Certainly they like to get the homecourt advantage, when they play Cosby especially. Let all their students in for free last year.

Keep the new hire under control over there :D

All I khow is that if Cosby is the best Region 2 has to offer, Region 1 might be sending 2 teams to state.Just a casual observation. thumb

Given that you're in in the Creek, who else would be potentially a candidate for Region 1 to State?

Hancock Co. doesn't look improved from last year; Cloudland seems to be a step down from last year.

University High would be the only likely team I'd suspect, but thats about it.

He's already been poisoned by the head honcho over here...doesn't take much I reckon. Glad I've avoided it for as long as I've known him. :)

not taking anything away from wartburg but i dont think you can consider harriman and coalfield "very good teams". Neither team has proven themselves yet this year.

Coalfield might not have proven themselves, but they always play Wartburg tight in Coalfield. Last Year the dogs went down there and got beat by Coalfield who didn't make it past the first round of the district tournament, while Wartburg got beat by Cosby by one point in the region tournament. It's always a tough game for Wartburg. Coalfield just plays better. Rockwood got beat by 1 point to CAK, who beat Wartburg by...well, a lot. Harriman beat Rockwood though. Rockwood is a tough team, and they(Wartburg) won that game without their big man inside. The Harriman game was also a tough game. Harriman was ready to play. Harriman might not have proven themselves, but they did beat Rockwood. And Coalfield might not have proven themselves this year, but Wartburg/Coalfield is a great county rival game, and is always tough for both teams, no matter how much talent either team has. • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
