Very good reply eaglebro... Have you guys seen the poll?  Everyone's picking Westmoreland (98%), but that's not unusual.  Like I said, I got faith in my boyz...

Van Buren was down by 1 point, as I recall, with not that much time left on the clock in the 4th quarter the last time these two teams met.  And if ya didn't know, the VB guys weren't hitting their shots at all... the whole team was off.  This next match is going to be different. 

 

I know these guys are going to have to prove everything though... they don't get credit from hardly anyone for being a good team... but that's because everyone hasn't seen just how good they can be yet...

You are right Kenny they are going to have to prove it. Credit/Respect or whatever you want to call it is not just handed out- IT IS EARNED. The boyz from the mountain are getting closer to earning that respect but they have to continue to prove themselves to people outside our little town before anyone else will believe in them. Talent... yes... potential... tons... but it is results that count.

My money says we see more results Friday night as Van Buren wins a huge district game at home.

I have watched this team in practice and have talked to their coach and there respect and credit is earned in the way they prepare for there games and it is starting to show with the way they are playing. I agree it is going to be a rough and tough game friday night but with the grit and detrimination this team has they will prevail in a big district matchup.

I say Van Buren shoots the ball better this time around Westmoreland is a "little" off (and I do mean just a smidge) and with the homecourt advantage of being "on the mountain" as you VB folks like to call it- Van Buren wins by 5. I think the atmosphere will be great- wish I could be there!

Nice pick for a mjca saint! What do you owe Van Buren and them "good ole boyz on the mountain" b/c you sure are like one of their biggest cheerleaders. I say VB play good as well- tight D, shots falling, and smart basketball. Westmoreland on the other hand will be a little off as mjca00 has said. Know what though-

IT WON'T MATTER! Westmoreland will still win because they are that much better than the "boyz on the mountain". West by 9!

      Bounder, you are correct. And it is so easy today. As a civilian today, I can check my 6th grade grandson’s grades in real time. 46 years ago as a young head coach, I knew who were my weak students and would do a weekly check. A decade and 1/2 later as an administrator, I would ask guidance for attendance, and grade reports as I did my own discipline reports. 5 years later I could run all those reports in a few minutes. today Text one the Secretaries and they can create a red flag report only printing the names with D’s and F’s or attendance and discipline issues. You are not even dealing with a whole team. The only problem with modern technology is someone who might not want to know.

      The buck stops with the head coach, he should have know if any of his players  were not making the required grades. Either he has someone checking weekly before games and reporting to him or he should do it himself.
