I know Giles is bitter about losing, but that's pretty weak- chalking it up as a win just because you think Smith outplayed Wright- which is definitly up for debate. Yes, Smith had one AMAZING dunk, but Brandon had 3 dunks and swatted Tyler out of the gym one time. I personnally don't remember who outplayed who last year but I do remember that Giles Co. won both, I think in a few years I will remember that BOTH players played very well this year but BRENTWOOD ACADEMY as a team pulled both of them out.

GCfan79 you need to SHUT UP!!! You say that you really don't care who won the game, LOL!!! I notice that in your first two posts, you did not forget to point out the fact that Giles County was leading the contest. If you really did not care, then you would have never posted that GCfan79 so don't try and convince anyone on here that you didn't care about the fact that Giles lost tonight.

Overall, great game.

In defense of BA returning to mediocrity after the departure of Wright, what does it say that BA won by the most when Wright, according to some, got owned by Smith. That leaves two (2) possibilities: 1) Brandan did not in deed get dominated, and/or 2) that BA clearly does not rely on one star player in big games, and has shown tremendous depth.

Let me ask you all this.  If Tyler Smith wasn't at Giles County and Brandan Wright wasn't at Brentwood...would any of you be interested in this game???

I will answer that for you guys...NO!!!

Fact of the matter is...tonights game was about two of TN's best going at it head to head...Tyler ended with with 20 some odd points and Brandan had like 18 or 19.  I know I didn't care who one the game...it was about these two young men.  Truth be told...next year when Tyler leaves Giles County, they will fall back to their mediocrity and no one will hear of how great they are or could be.  As for Brentwood, that time is two years down the road...but face it...the day is coming.

When this year is over with and Brentwood has their Gold Ball again, everyone will look back at this years match-ups and say...Tyler and Brandan had it out twice.  Brandan came out on top in the first one on one match-up, but Tyler got the best of Brandan in the second.  And yes, Brentwood won both games...YIPPY SKIPPY!!!

Since you are apparently in the Atlanta area and know nothing of BA's personnel

(dominated by Sophomores), you might want to refrain from discussing things

of which you have no knowledge.

I was very impressed with the crowd in this one. Looks like BA made the right choice in moving it. I guess the celebs liked it too with fred miller, chris brown, roy williams, and patrick turner in attendance. By the way Tyler Smith's dunk over Wright was amazing no matter who you were for in this one. I liked the atmosphere a whole lot better at Giles County's gym though.

Most of BA's wins have been 15 to 20 plus with 3 or 4 at 30 plus. What are you

talking about?

Good game from both teams.  The crowd size was in the 5,000 range.

Brandan was a little sluggish in the first half.  However, to say Tyler

was "ramming it down Brandan's throat" is absolute nonsense.  Brandan

altered or "BLOCKED" many of Tyler's shots.  Particularly in the second

half.  Yes, Tyler dunked on Brandan but Brandan returned the favor "THREE

TIMES" in the second half and swatted Tyler at least twice.

All that being said, I do believe Tyler had the better game but let's be

reasonable with the overall assessment.

In the end, BA led most of the second half and built a seven point lead

for much of the 4th period.

I don't know what game you were watching.. I'm a fan of neither team.. But I can tell you that Brandan swatted tyler only once... The only other time you could even say he swatted tyler he ended up fouling him rather hard and tyler went to the line and made 2... People getting on here and making up nonsense is beyond me... And w/ the earlier post made by my friend GCfan79, Brandan didn't get the better of tyler the first game... Brandan is a VERY talented b'ball player no doubt.. But Tyler flat outplayed him on defense and offense both games! Brandan NEVER dunked on tyler either jek... That's like saying coffee dunked on wright 2 times... because he was as close to wright while throwing down as wright was to smith (no where near)... Be honest in your posts... there weren't 5000 ppl there either, i figured it was 4 but the news said it was 3-3,500... and everyone there that isn't biased noticed who the better player was... I took 2 guys that were from nashville and never seen either guy play before, and they (along w/ everyone else around me) were MUCH more impressed w/ Tyler than Brandan... Congrats to Brentwood and many thanks to Vandy for supplying the gym to allow twice as many ppl to attend than would have been able to otherwise!!

very good post... however I'll go w/ 2.) Wright is good, but ba has a very good all around team... Good ballhandlers and multiple outside threats...

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
