  1. No need for a BA Civil War, we get enough crap from everybody else on here. There's no doubt that the core of the '06 and '07 classes did and still do a great job in creating one of the best fan sections anywhere. The problem no doubt lies in all those that are not as interested. But all schools have their hardcore fans and those that see it as more of a social event, that's just reality. Jay, I think that it's very arrogant to think that our class did NOTHING in the mafia. The point of the mafia was to support our basketball team, not to try to be superior to another grade. At the same time, I give you guys credit, it seems that you are keeping the mafia alive very well even without all the excitement that Brandan and Josh created. Good luck to BA this year, make it 5 straight. -dlew
  2. Sounds like a great effort from UC, they should do well this year in their region, however if you think that beating a BA team minus Brandan Wright, Brian Wright, Bill Kottas, and Joshua Bone is anything like beating one of the past 4 state championship teams, you are sadly mistaken. Good luck to BA tommorrow in the championship!
  3. Is there any way to hear or see this game via radio or internet?
  4. Prayers from the BA community as well- I never knew Chris but I respected the way he played and acted on the field- what a tough loss.
  5. I can't say I knew Chris but I got to play against him several times ( BA ) and he was a fine competitor and this is a terrible tragedy- our prayers are with his family and the whole CBHS community.
  6. Sounds like a tough matchup for BA who struggled with Shelbyville's talented guards in the opener, however great win tonight- I hope the Tennessean gives BA their dues in the paper tommorow, but regardless a great win anyways and I'm so proud of the Eagles.
  7. Ford didn't play just for the record. Overall, it was a game dominated by defense. CBHS ran back the opening kickoff for a TD after an offsides on the initial kickoff. BA got on the board with a safety after CBHS's long snapper snapped one over the punter's head. BA then took an 8-7 lead after an int gave them good field position for a short drive( xp blocked ). BA led at halftime but fumbled on the first play of the 2nd half and CBHS took it about 20 yards to make it 13-8 ( 2 pt. failed ). CBHS then tipped a screen pass and ran it back 40 yards to extend the margin to 20-8. BA's comeback hopes were ended with a CBHS int on the CBHS 2 yard line, followed by another on about the 30 on BA's last drive. Both D's played well but overall CBHS made more big plays tonight.
  8. That freshmen tight end you are referring to is Thad McHaney #99, kind of reminds me of a past BA tight end that wore the same number...Barry Turner.
  9. Ravenwood won in the regular season but BHS won 30-20 in the playoffs I believe.

    MBA / CPA

Very unclassy Cut It Out....... like MBAWR5 said, there's no reason to wish bad luck upon a group of teenagers ( most of whom still on the team didn't even play in that game ). I would like to say more, but I think you're rudeness/ignorance have spoken enough.
  11. Not to take anything away from CPA, I think they will compete in 2A this year, but Byrnes and M.U.S. ( MBA's two losses ) are on a different level then CPA. MBA wins this one by several TD's.
  12. I share your enthusiam about beating MBA, but let's worry about McCallie and M.U.S. first.

    MUS-MBA

24-0 M.U.S. takes this one I hear, what happened?
  14. I think the Big 10 has 11 teams so Super 7 works for now.
  15. Harper pulled in another one tonight- easily. The team will lose Bumbalough but will return a strong nucleus with Tyree Ford, Ben Davies, Marty Ross, Clay Adams, Chris Vaughn and others, they may be able to pull off a 4-peat.
  16. Sounds very impressive, I heard Bumbalough had a personal record in the mile at 4:05. Congrats to the Eagles on their 3rd in a row.
  17. Honestly, I think bringing up high school stats is totally useless when judging if a player will make an NFL roster. And also, remember he's not going to have great stats in college because he was a fullback, his main job was to block, to truely grade his performance you would need to view film of his blocking. I realize the odds are heavily stacked against him making the roster in San Diego, but I wish him luck, and if it doesn't work out this year he can maybe catch on a practice squad or think about Arena League, and if all else fails he has his degree.
  18. I agree, I think it would be a good idea to have him back. Remember, we're not talking about bringing him back to be a franchise savior but rather just to provide some depth in the backfield. I think he wasn't given a fair chance in Dallas and as proved by his last game as a Titan, he still has enough in the tank to carry the ball several times a game as a solid backup.
  19. Good signing- I think White has the potential to be a solid NFL backup, I don't think people should give up on him. However, if he doesn't work out than he'll just be another undrafted free agent that didn't make it, there really isn't much at risk here at all.
  20. Just throwing this out there for discussion, feel free to agree or disagree: Scale of need at each position: ( 1 being practically no need and 10 meaning need desperate help ) QB: 5- Titans have a franchise QB in McNair and one of the top backups in the league in Volek. However, an article in the Tennessean recently suggested Reese may be considering Smith or Rodgers in the first round if they were available and grooming them to become the future franchise QB. I personally don't see them taking a QB in the first round, we simply can't afford 3 big cap numbers from the QB position, though I think it is feasable the Titans pick one up late to compete for the 3rd QB spot. RB: 6.5- Chris Brown has shown he can be a good NFL running back but hasn't shown he can be durable. Many think the Titans will look to sign a veteran running back such as Eddie George or Anthony Thomas. If there weren't so many other needs, than picking one of the "big 3" running backs, Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, or Cedrik Benson would be smart, but there are simply too many other needs. Once again, I could see the Titans using a pick on this position, but probably not the 1st or 2nd round one. At fullback, Troy Fleming has the job nailed down, I don't expect the Titans to use a pick on the position. WR: 9- With only 2 WR's on the roster, this position is a major need. I think and hope that the Titans take one in the first round. Mike Williams seems to have the best odds because i doubt Edwards will be around, and Williams played under Chow at USC. Another option would be to trade down since there are several other quality WR's available such as South Carolina's Troy Williamson. I expect the Titans to take at least two WR's, maybe both on day 1. OL: 7- 4/5 starters return with only Fred Miller departed. The thinking is that 2nd year player Jacob Bell will take over at Miller's tackle spot. Drafting a tackle in the first round is definitly an option but I don't think Reese will go that way. However, I expect the Titans to take at least one tackle and maybe a guard to help add some depth, or trading down in the first round and picking up Alex Barron sounds like a good choice also. TE: 3- Reliable Erron Kinney and electrifying Ben Troupe both return, 3rd tight end Shad Meier is gone. If a good TE is available at one pick than they could pick one but there are many other needs that must be taken care of first. DL: 6- The Titans are set in the interior with Haynesworth, Starks, and Long but need to add some depth on the end with the loss of Hall. I think free agency may be a better choice in this case because they could use a veteren, but a mid to late pick on the DL is a strong possibility. LB: 2- Titans are pretty set here with 3 proven starters in Sirmon, Bulluck, and Calmus all returning along with solid depth with Kassell. Derrick Johnson from Texas is a freak but there are too many other needs for us to have the luxury of taking him. CB: 8- Unless they change there mind and get Dyson back, they are fairly desperate for at least one CB. Woolfolk and Beckham have plently of potential but are both unproven. Gardner and Waddell both got plenty of PT last year but a first round pick of Antrell Rolle or Pac Man Jones are definitly possibilities, but regardless the Titans will pick up at least 1 CB, probably in the first 3 rounds. S: 4- As the roster stands right now, the Titans have 4 good safeties in Schulters, Williams, Thompson, and McGarrahan. However, if they are planning on cutting any of them for cap room later, than grabbing at least one safety would be smart. SP: 6- There is basically no need for a punter with Hentrich stiill around, but taking a kicker wouldn't be a bad idea at all. The Titans have signed Ola Kimrin to compete for the starting kicking job, but drafting some competion is a good possibility if there is a quality one available. The Titans could also use somebody to boost there terrible return game. In Summary, the Titans need a lot of help. If I were the GM I would look to trade down in the first round and see if any of the CB's or WR's slip down, or try to pick up an Alex Barron or Troy Williamson and than use the extra pick or picks to help fill these needs.
  21. I Forgot about Schoebel, he showed a little bit of promise in his limited pt last year. The Tennessean reported that Free Agent DE Kyle Vanden Bosch visited with the Titans, I think that would be wise to sign a lower-priced veteren at DE to help mentor the younger ones and to add depth.
  22. The Titans do have plenty of young lineman, the problem is that most of them are on the interior. Haynesworth, Starks, Long, and Clauss are all defensive tackles, if I'm not mistaken this leaves us with only Travis LaBoy and Antwan Odom- neither of whom made a huge contribution last year- at defensive end. We are going to have to get some depth at end via free agency or the draft for sure.
  23. The odds of actually guessing who the Titans will pick in the later rounds are very low, none-the-less I agree with you on the positions the Titans will target. However, I think with the departure of Hall, the Titans will look to pick up another defensive end probably somewhere in the 3rd-5th round area. Also, I would be shocked to see Burnett available in the 4th round, many mock drafts I have seen have him gone late in the first. I would be surprised if he made it out of the 2nd round for sure.
  24. Carlos Hall traded this morning to the KC Chiefs for an undisclosed draft pick....what do you guys think?
