As a parent. I believe my coaching days are done. I have a freshman daughter who has been a swimmer and volleyball player. I also have a 4th grade daughter who also swims and she plays basketball.

My advice from experience in the area is don't try to swim in Old Hickory Lake near US31. I fished there off the bank one day, being new to the area. ....didn't get a nibble. A few days later, I drove by and the water had reseded and to my surprise the water I had been casting into was probably 4 inches deep with no cover what so ever. The community should put up No Diving, No Fishing, No Nothing signs. Good luck on your move. Welcome to the area.

Move to the Hendersonville or Beech are instead of Station Camp. Beech has a better basketball program at this time, Hendersonville may be closing the gap there though. For swimming, Hendersonville has tremendous program year in and year out. Very close friend of the family was there as a senior last year. She was an All-american and now is swimming at Florida. Wouldn't send my worst enemy to Station Camp at this time. It may be a good school in the future for athletics, but not right now. Good Luck.

Thanks for the honest assessment. My little one is 4 years away and the older daughter may just play volleyball. I have always liked the underdog role anyway and I have a feeling things will improve.

If I had my choice of the 3 schools mentioned,

 

 

I would choose Station Camp,only been open 3 or 4 years this school has made great strides in sports as well as academics.

Station Camp excels at boys basketball and track. Soccer teams show some signs of life.

 

Overall, I would still recommend Beech or Hendersonville if those are options.

Maybe you should tour the schools yourself and talk to some parents before making a final decision. thumb

I am also a big fan of academics, so I think Station Camp will be fine.
