Temple vs Ooltewah

The paper said that Brandon Brown led Ooltewah in scoring with 21 but also had 9 turnovers. Was Temple running their press? If not, what happened?

Yes, temple did press for a little while and it was effective.

Temple picked its times to press. they always had someone shadowing the man bringing the ball up and then every once in a while would turn it up and this seemed to be very effective, almost as if to catch them off guard a bit.

Temple's press was very effective. I almost thought that Temple wasn't going to be able to hang with Ooltewah when Ooltewah jumped up early. But I know that Caleb and the rest of the Crusaders did a heck of a job. The press put pressure on Ooltewah and worked the majority of the time, but it did hurt them a couple times giving Ooltewah easy baskets, but worked for mostly the good.

I believe that a temple team a couple years back could not run like they did against the owls...now i am not comparing the teams...but do you feel yall are playing at a faster speed than temple teams from the past 5 years? just wondering and i am asking this to anyone too

Temple did seem to be moving pretty fast. They were running with, and beating, the bigger, more athletic ooltewah.

I believe i heard coach wadley a few years back saying that it is better if temple slows it down and gets control of the game...now...they seem to fly with teams that like to play at fast speeds...and it is not just caleb...Sean can keep up and the man has a mean throw...ever try to catch one of those throws? i remember in junior high he could throw hard...Cudd gets in your face too..i noticed last night that he stayed with a guy and was pretty low and i thought dang! also Dee..the man is fast,so i assume this is a faster team..i could be mistaken..i dont know

Yes, you are right, PBG. A faster paced game suits our team much better this season rather than trying to slow it down and play a half court game as we have done in the past. We have worked extremely hard this year on our fast breaks and finishing on the break.

 

This is probably a much different style of Temple basketball than most of our fans are used to.

Yes, and it gets more dunks out of caleb to excite the fans. Not that I am one, but I saw him go off at ooltewah with a few dunks, and the kid can play.

Was I the only one who was just a little bit underwhelmed by Caleb's performance? He is good, don't get me wrong, and was probably the best player on the court, and his dunking is impressive, but I was shocked at his missed free throws and he missed quite a few open outside shots as well. He seemed to try to force things too much inside as well, going for the circus layup when he didn't have to, and ended up missing a few. Granted, he did have 9 assists and played a good game, but he wasn't the offensive juggernaut I was expecting.
