I guess winning 1 out of 3 isn't bad huh? Wow! The Lady Indians fell to Charlotte last night. Apparently losing Ellis destroyed Harpeth. I wish them luck in the State tournament next week.

I am a big CM fan,but last night i was embarassed by their performance. They were playing a much weaker opponent, Houston County, and it seemed they were intentionally running up the score.Do we dislike HC that badly or is it their coach or is this how it is going to be in Cheatham County from now on?I hope this is not a sign of things to come.I thought Coach Carter had more class than to do something like he did last night. There was no need to put his starters back in in the fourth quarter. The score was something like 45-7 at the end of the third quarter. One of our starters was limping very noticeably throughout the game and Coach Carter put her back in in the fourth quarter. What if she had gotten hurt and been out the rest of the season?I just thought it was really classless to win the way we won last night.Iwill continue to be a bearcat supporter until my child moves on to high school, but i hope i do not have to witness such a poor display of class as i did last night.GO BEARCATS AND GOOD LUCK IN THE SECTIONALS!!!!

Well, I must say that the Cheatham girls played their best game of the year last night. They were solid on both ends of the floor.

Now in response to the "classless" comment made towards Coach Carter. First of all, maybe the beating they gave to Houston County makes them feel better and have more confidence heading into the state tournament next week. In my opinion, why should a coach penalize his players for playing well? If they are on a roll like they were last night, why the heck should you take them out. To be honest with you, I would have did the same thing.

Another point. Those 8th grade girls have four games or less left in their middle school careers. Why not let them have a little fun. What is a coach suppose to do, tell his team to stop playing and sit out there and hold the ball. I think not. Like I said earlier, they played better last night than I have seen them play all season. Next year, it will be time for high school basketball, a big change.

I didn't see any lack of respect last night, I clearly saw a team play very well and beat a team that was not as good as they were. I mean, you can't help your better than the other team.

Not being mean, but that's just how I feel. Good luck to the girls and guys in the state tournament.

Sorry I just got home. Here's what went down tonight in Charlotte.

Harpeth Girls defeated the Houston Co. Girls in the consolation game.

Houston Co. beat Waverly in the boys consolation game by about twelve. Ok game.

Cheatham Girls beat Charlotte Girls 23-21 in the championship game. Very good ball game. Both teams struggled to score though.

Harpeth beat Cheatham in the boys championship game by about 14 or so. Cheatham played terrible, that's about all you can say. Give credit to Harpeth's defense. Good luck to everyone in the state tournament next week.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
