Is Pigeon Forge Gaurds as good as Claibornes?

Are you serious?

Shouldn't the question be, is Claibornes as good as Pigeon Forge?

Lets see PF is 16-0 in the district going into the tournament, they beat Claiborne twice. I would have to say they are at least as good as them. Wouldn't you?

I know this has to be a joke of a thread.

Claiborne has two guards that are very good. One is Coach Parkey's daughter and she can shoot the 3's if you leave her open. I don't know the other player's name, but she has been with them for several years. I am thinking these two players are juniors. If so, I believe they will really stand out next year.

In comparison to Pigeon Forge's guards...in my opinion they are not on the same level. We have many outstanding guards (Garrison, Newman, Rayfield, Johnson & King) each have a special talent which is what makes our team come together so well. Newman, Garrison & Johnson can shoot the lights out on 3's. Newman is an awesome leader and point guard. She handles the ball well and can pass from one end of the court to the other - and Garrison will be there to receive that pass! On defense, I haven't seen any player (in ET) any better than Garrison. Yes, she is my daughter, but I believe many will agree with me on this. And Johnson, who is only a junior, has really stepped it up this year. She can pass the ball well and will be a big leader next year. King is awesome on defense and has really helped the team this year (first year with PF.) Rayfield, who is also a junior, is an awesome power forward. She is our best rebounder and with her height, she should get many looks next year. Our post players (Ramsey & Dodgen) have been outstanding this year as well.

Quote from Jimbo 44 "Garrison will take your lunch away and give half of it to Dodgen."

Thanks Jimbo! Sadly, the defensive players don't receive much praise in their careers because many people are more impressed by points (which is mostly all you read about in the papers.)

I'm serious, I've seen the PF girls play on the road. They are a serious TEAM.

We have played both teams this year and without a doubt Claiborne's guards are better on both ends of the court. Anyone who has played them this year would have to agree that they play with intensity for all 4 quarters. Pigeon Forge guards are good, but they also have some of the best post players in this area. If Claiborne's post players were equally as good this question wouldn't ever have been posted. Also-Claiborne and Rutledge are without question the surprise teams of this season in District 2AA. Wouldn't you agree?

Claiborne girls are good, I am not taking anything away from them, but if you are going to start a thread asking if Pigeon Forge's guards are as good as Claibornes I will have to say NO.

True Pigeon Forge has a well rounded team in Post & Guard play and for someone to say we are only better because of our Post Players, I would have to ask what happened when Claiborne played Rutledge, Chuckey Doak, Gatlinburg Pittman, West Greene, & South Greene because Claiborne lost to them as well.

I congratulate P.F. on an outstanding season, but it is their posts not their guards that have drawn the most attention from their opponents. Our school this season had a losing record within this district , we simply could not handle the post players from P.F. One year does not put P.F. on the level of South Greene, Rutledge, or Claiborne basketball programs in our district. Only time will tell. These programs are sending players to the next level. South Greene, Rutledge, and Claiborne all have several players who have played or who still playing on the collegiate level. If these P.F. guards are so good why haven't I heard about any collegiate scholarships? See you on ESPN.

Did Parkey play in these games?

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
