I was looking forward to seeing the match with Zach. He's been fighting an injury for some time and during the match before finals with Rainey he aggravated his injury and decided it would be best to not risk hurting it more and be able to compete properly at state. anw
ame="anw" post="3650266" timestamp="1486868369"] He's been fighting an injury for some time and during the match before finals with Rainey he aggravated his injury and decided it would be best to risk not hurting it more and be able to compete properly at state. We had the same situation at 113. That's what I figured happen. Senior year and did not want to risk pushing an injury to far. Tanner is a good one. Wish him luck next weekend. rodteague
GW I just got home, so thanks for posting the results. It does not tell the whole story. This was the most intense Region 3 I have ever been a part of. More like a MMA tourney , or if you will "The Battle of Franklin". Lots of broken and bloody grapplers. Those of you who were there know exactly what I am referring to. Muday / Oberstaedt semi's was a brawl and Nick got the short end; he still managed to qualify in spite of his injuries(plural) and it was a heroic effort on his part. Parcel suffered a gash above his eye; and to his credit wrestled and qualified. Ha wrestled his consolation's with a broken foot and nearly pulled it off, came down to the last 2 secs. Turner nearly pulled off an upset; but the call in the last second of his con semi did not go his way. Tuff, but thats life. Austin Harshaw had a bitter sweet loss in his con-semi in OT. Should have gone his way; It was a hard pill to swallow for all of us; but again thats life. Our boy's battled, bled and some were literally broken; but none quit. Warriors in all. I'm very proud of them. Fairview and Greenbrier had their share as well. I spoke to Josh(Greenbrier) and Bubba(Fairview) respectfully; we agreed this tourney was brutal. We are all limping into state next week; hoping everyone recovers enough to make a good showing. Of the top four teams in the region Greenbrier qualified 7 Page qualified 7 Forrest qualified 6 Fairview qualified 6 Camper and Tywater were voted Best wrestlers of the year Noe was voted Best wrestler of the Tournament Congratulations to all who qualified for state; I can honestly say each and everyone earned it tonight. Crossfaced93
I agree. This region 3 A-AA tournament was a brawl, lots of upsets and lots of great matches. The heavyweight finals match may have been my favorite of the night. I hope all of the state qualifiers get healthy so we can represent this amazingly STACKED region at the big dance. Looking forward to next weekend!
rodteague
I corrected the number of qualifiers from Forrest and Fairview. It"s an indication of how competitive Region 3 is, and I agree with CF93, that Region 3 is stacked with talent. With us leaving A-AA and the subsequent region realignments; Fairview and Forrest will make a significant impact next year. EDIT Sorry Fairview is going west next year not east; Forrest will be duking it out with the Chattanooga teams. Look out east and west ! I should also mention that Nolensville impacted our region in a big way. They were the spoilers this year and A-AA teams should not take them lightly over the next few years. Coach Peck is already laying the foundation for a powerhouse, just as he did at Ravenwood. Bestsportfan
I thought the 160 match between page and sycamore was the best match of the tournament but I might be biased. Both kids went at it and fought hard. You can't take that from either one of them!!
