2018 Sequatchie Wood Bat Tournament

Sequatchie County will host a high school wood bat tournament March 22nd -24th. Entry fee is $325.00 and each team will be provided a wood bat. If interested, contact Coach Easterly at 423-321-2068.

As of right now:  Sequatchie, Grundy, Anderson and Whitwell.  (possibly one more we are waiting to hear back from.

What's the point/reason of having a wood bat tournament?  Just something different?  Just wondering.

Just to be different and for the players to get the experience and feel of hitting with wood.

I have been to three of these tournaments. Good facilities. Teams have a good time

If a player is able to consistently square it up with wood the scouts will have no doubt they can hit.  If I were a high school coach I would require all of my players to take BP with wood and I would force the JV and Freshmen teams to also play with wood.

Wood makes you a better hitter because you can not get away with using poor mechanics.  Continue to do it your way and see how far you get.  You can pay the price now or you will pay it later.

Truthfully, what is the percentage of HS players that will ever HAVE to play with wood?

 

Probably less than 1%.

 

So, why learn to hit with wood?  What's the point?  Just saying....
