TeeterTot
I would say turf fields are more important to the athlete than jumbo-trons.
BooWhoWiseMan
Turf is a waste of taxpayer money IMO. The price tag is not worth it. For $10,000 a year for maintainance you can have nice grass field that can hold up to multiple uses by the team, band, and even Youth programs. So double that amount to $20,000 a year and you are saving half a million dollars every ten years. The problem when you see bad high school fields is that the coach has not made it a priority. To have a nice field you have to put in the work.Tax payers did not pay a dime for their turf. It was 100% funded by their QBC which raised a measly $1 million for the facility. chumley7
Gary your right it takes a lot of work to have nice grass. But without help from QB Club most likely won't get done. That's where turf simplifies the process. It gives coaches more time to do other things that need attention preparing for the week. It also makes life easier if a MS and youth program uses field. Never have to worry with postponing, You should be able to host events you haven't in the past for fear of wear and tear. SdotBears
Artificial turf does not make you an automatic winner either. Unfortunately

TeeterTot
So the field is just one part of a massive campus overhaul.
BooWhoWiseMan
Wrong. https://brentwoodhomepage.com/bhs-football-field-project-underway/ I stand corrected. Bad info I guess. How are the "poor rural schools" any different than Ravenwood, Centennial, and Indy on the level they are getting screwed?
BooWhoWiseMan
How are the "poor rural schools" any different than Ravenwood, Centennial, and Indy on the level they are getting screwed? All those school are fairly new with newer facilities. One would think that Fairview and Page need updating more than these new schools. Aren't those kids just as important and deserving as other Kids in the county? workinprogress
Page is updating their building. It's going to be top notch all the way around. Saw where one plan was roughly thirty million and the other around double that. At least one plan called for turf.
